I gotta say, it looks like a much weaker version of Voidcaller. Same mana, no 3/4 body, and also gives your enemy a minion.
I *guess* it could be effective against something like Zoo or an aggro deck, who usually burn their hands fast. if you're running something like that old Crusher Shaman, you get the massive 7/8 with no overload, while they might get something like an abusive sarge.
The problem is, though, shaman decks nowadays rarely run anything big, so there's not much to put out from this card.
Comparing it to voidcaller actually kind of pains me because with voidcaller the demon attachment means that you have a much better degree of control over what you're putting out. It's almost not-random.
I could see this being good in some situations, but mostly... not being used. The best and most consistent scenario I can see using this would be when they are top decking, if they don't have a minion in their hand, yours is 4 mana.
Otherwise, unless you have only a 6+ mana creature would it be even worth the chance they summon something equal or better. Overall though, they are spending nothing, while your spending 4 mana plus whatever card or cards you will have to use as removal. Will have to see if any other synergies come out,
The question I have is why run this card instead of a 4 drop minion like Sen'jin Shieldmasta. In order for it to be worth it, you need to get 4 mana worth more than your opponent. Even against a super aggro zoo with average minion cost of 2, that means you need to be getting a 6 drop on average, and even control decks usually only peak around 4 or 5 mana. Yeah, you deny battlecry, but you don't get battlecry either, so what happens to your Fire Elemental?
I suppose you could make this break-even on mana value in anti-aggro matchups if you build a spell-based control deck, so that the minions are curved high, but even then, it's a tempo loss. Either you play it on curve to ramp out a minion, in which case you have no mana left to deal with your opponent's minion (disaster versus aggro), or you play it late so you can control the opponent's minion with a spell, in which case you've spent three cards when you could have just played the big drop minion on curve without losing tempo.
Unless I'm missing some huge synergy here, this just seems like a bad card, and I can't see it getting play in either arena or constructed.
I'm also curious does this give the shaman both cards, or does it put one down for each player? If you put down a card from your deck and a you get a card from your opponents deck then this seems pretty cool. If it's one for each, then this is just another garbage shaman card.
I was collecting gold for expansion, but seeing the cards I prefer to spend it now
I dont know what I was expecting, but this wasnt it. I mean I guess thats cool? With all the ben brode hype i was expecting something nuts
The art is nice..and that's about the only positive thing i can say about this card.
lol i like how similar it is to Show and Tell. Except no where near as good of course. But Unique card and a build arounder, still fun.
Requires too much set up if you ask me.....you would want to thin your hand down until the specific minion you wanted to play is left and some form of of hard removal would be almost a must depending on what type of deck you are playing against. Great play would be to play this with only Sylvannas in your hand then Reincarnate Sylvannas to steal the opponents minion........granting your opponent has an empty board.......
Also I don't mean to argue semantics but shouldn't it be "onto the battlefield" not "into the battlefield"?
i can't wait to fill up 4 deck slots with totemic might and ancestor's call!!! Shaman sooo OP now... RIP hunters, windspeaker vs savannah, you don't stand a chance Rexxar
Another useless shaman card.. :/
i don't know what you're talking about... Shaman has the best class cards in the game...
Dust Devil
Totemic Might
Windspeaker
Forked Lightning
Don't forget the best hero power in the game... RNG minion that gets immediately killed anyway... Blizzard clearly loves this class or else it wouldn't be sooo good. Direct counter to Priest, Hunter and Warlock, which are like the most common classes on ladder these days, it's great!
kappa
Yeah. This card dedicated to all the shaman bots.. All you bastards will burn in HELL!!
The wording is ambiguous. Are we to assume that this puts one minion on each side of the board?
This is an alarm-o-bot that can't be killed, but the price is that it alarm-o-bots your opponent as well?
Odd.
I was just mentioning an alarm-o-bot deck in another thread about the Foe Reaper 4000. That happened to be a shaman deck. I'm not sure if I'd use this card in it or not, though since the point was to give me board advantage by denying my opponent the ability to play minions.
I suppose that if I was in a fast aggro meta and I was sure that my minion would be a beefy compared to my opponent's weenie, that I might risk it.
Hmmm.
Looks like the MTG "Show and tell", one of the most powerfull\OP card in vintage meta...Let's see
Earth elemental without pay the overload cost could be nasty, put ysera in 3rd\4th turn could be OP.
i think you meant legacy. SnT sees no play in vintage.
Four mana??? Epic card?
Just a Bad Card!
Handshaman?
I don't understand why it's a Shaman card. I don't see how it fits the theme of Shaman. WHERE'S THE FLAVOR?!
