My attempt on making a revolutionary new Priest deck for the upcoming Standard format. Suggestions are always welcome.
I love this deck! Herald Volazj is one of my favorite legendaries, looks and effects, so I had to find SOME way to use him, and this deck was my saving grace. However, I have a few questions.
1.) Is Refreshment Vendor in for damage with Auchenai Soulpriest or more for healing yourself?
2.) Do you find Cyclopian Horror to be better than some of the other lower mana taunts?
3.) Isn't Forbidden Shaping like, one of the coolest cards around currently?
Thanks for an awesome deck, I hope to see it shine someday!
Thank you for the kind words! This deck shouldn't be too viable currently though, but I like that it works for you.
1) More for the healing and to have something to play on turn 4, also it comboes nicely with Brann - but I didn't update this deck for a longer time, so you should think about including Priest of the Feast or including another Darkshire Alchemist. Maybe you could take out the Vendor and one of either Entomb or Cairne Bloodhoof[/card]. Also, if you face mostly Shamans, Excavated Evil as a one-of is a good choice for one Holy Nova.
2) There are times where it is the best taunt of all, but unfortunately this doesn't happen too often. Cyclopian Horror is like a 3/4 or 3/5 mostly. That means Senjin-value, which isn't bad, but also not overwhelmingly good. When it isn't, then it is a severely buffed up 3/12 or even more insane through Brann. Then the taunt also helps you survive until the late-game.
3) Absolutely - no bias at all.
Ok, I finally included the Auchenai combo.
Oh, mah, nice deck. I just can't play without COH and auchenai combo DansGame
I changed the deck a lot and I included the Auchenai-CoH combo - will upload the changes this evening. Stay tuned ;)
----- SHORT INSIGHT! -----
1. Silence unfortunately isn't very good. So I replaced it with SW:P, which IS very good - especially against C'Thun and Aggro decks.
2. C'Thun decks are in fact no big deal to beat with this. You just have to ensure board control as good as you can. Don't hesitate on playing Forbidden Shaping, even when on low mana, IF it helps keeping board control. Having a removal just-in-time for C'Thun or let's say Dark Arakkoa usually isn't a problem.
3. Emperor Cobra is AMAZING. So often, this card bailed me out - believe it or not.
4. Control matchups are almost always an insta-win. I played against a C'Thun Warrior and although he was at 50 armor at one point (he had Brann a bit too long on board and then played Ancient Shieldbearer), I beat him fairly easily. N'Zoth the Corruptor and Herald Volazj won this. Volazj gave me a full board consisting of Cairne Bloodhoofs and Twilight Summoners. After playing N'Zoth, he was done.
5. Aggro decks which curve out really well give me fits sometimes. I get the feeling that just one more taunt or one more heal were missing to win that certain game. This can also be due to the fact that I run Senjin instead of Cyclopian Horror, as I don't have him yet.
All in all, I am quite happy that this deck works. It is competitive enough for the current meta (emphasis on current).
1. You can see all changes I made when you press on "Latest Changes", which is located right beyond my deck list. Then you have to klick on "View History" and there you go.
2. Yes, there are probably better choices than the Mini-Emperor, but I like that card a lot, so I want to give it a shot. Good aspects about it are that you almost always at least trade 1-for-1 as it demands a card (in order to be removed) and that it kills bigger minions as well. Also, there is some bonus value when combined with Volazj. Moreover, I am quite scared of Midrange Shaman - the Cobra comes quite handy against that 7/7 for example. Then again, I see it being replaced - but not with Squirming Tentacle or Twilight Elder. If the testing proves that I can run a bigger drop instead, I'd include one like another Darkshire Alchemist. But I believe it rather has to be a 3-drop or even lower.
So I thought about maybe including one of these cards instead: Sunfury Protector, another Flame Juggler, Tinkmaster Overspark, Mind Control Tech, Earthen Ring Farseer or even a Gadgetzan Jouster when it comes to 1-3 drops.
I think the true value of this deck and really all N'Zoth decks is going to be having multiple copies of Sylvanas Windrunner. One of the strongest Deathrattle, (if not the strongest) in the game and this deck allows you to have quite a few chances at copies and then chances to re summon multiple Sylv with N'Zoth. The struggle people are going to have with N'Zoth is creating all deathrattle minion decks and then having to much of a chance at not summoning Sylv or Cairne because N'Zoth populated the board spots with dead Lepers and other dead lower Deathrattle cards.
I just kept the Horseriders, because I hoped for a good buff in order to get more value out of Volazj. It didn't come. That's why I took them out and included two SW:D. I believe Shifting Shade is decent, but in comparison to the Shaman cards it would battle, it is really, really bad. That's why I actually want to remove him, but I am not sure if I can, as I'd just have 3 Deathrattle minions left + the 2 I get through Curator.
Although I have to say, I'm tempted to try Cyclopian Horror out.
Don't forget the two Deathrattle minions you will get fromMuseum Curator. I am still trying to decide on other Deathrattle minions that are still left in Standard that will see a lot of play. If you make a wild version there are a lot of additional options.
Screw it, Shifting Shade is not good enough. I'll replace him. If it had 5 attack, I'd kept him...
It's a great deck but I find Brann too lackluster in here.
While building this deck I was all like: "I have to auto-include Brann when running Volazj."
Turns out, I just have the Curators and Volazj which take advantage of Brann's effect. But I won't take him out just yet, as I plan to include more battlecry minions.
Also I REALLY hope that Priest gets another buff after Velen's Chosen, because then my Argent Horseriders would possibly get way more value after copying them with the Herald. If not, I'll probably take them out and try Gadgetzan Jouster or any other 1-3 drop that turns out to be good out instead.
I also think about including a Tournament Medic for Saraad, as I focus on three things with this deck: Deathrattles, Inspire and Volazj. A SW:D would be good, too, I guess. The thing is just - I like Saraad as a card a lot, as he provides some great fun. Also, Emperor Cobra is something I want to try out here, because even as a 1/1 it can kill anything - theoretically.
Interesting ideas well at least you found a place for the Herald.
Thank you!
