From the moment i saw Yogg-Saron, Hope's End i fell in love with it, so obviously i had to make a deck with him, and what better deck than freeze mage?
RECENT CHANGES:
-1 Flamestrike, -1 Forbidden Flame, -1 Kirin Tor Mage and -1 Archmage Antonidas
+1 Blizzard, +2Novice Engineers and 1Loot Hoarder
POTENTIAL CARDS TO INCLUDE:
Brann Bronzebeard; Cult Apothecary; Archmage Antonidas; Flamestrike; Forbidden Flame
I though about using Cult Apothecary because you can get a Reno Jackson's level heal with the help of Brann Bronzebeard (14 health with 7 minons and 28 health if with brann). Although after testing you will most of the times clear the board rather than using it.
With the potencial to get 22+ spells cast from Yogg-Saron, Hope's End (you can get more with the help of Archmage Antonidas ), or 44+ with Brann Bronzebeard.
You can expect this deck to be guaranteed FUN.
I'm definetly open for suggestions, and hope u like the deck :D
I think Kirin Tor is a must for freeze mage this meta without mad scientist
i absolutely agree with this. draw, stall, and burn. thats how you play freeze mage. kirin tor does not draw, it does not stall and does not burn, therefore it doesn't fit into freeze mage
i think if forbidden flame could target face then i think it'd be an auto include, but since it can't, i dont think it has a place. especially as a freeze mage the only single target removal you should normally be doing is in the early game, and with the prevalence of shaman, my focus will be on them and unfortunately a turn 1 tunnel trogg cannot be answered by a turn 2 forbidden flame, where as a frostbolt can
also it seems like you deck is pulling itself in two different directions with a its fireball production, in my experience its better to have one way, either the antonidas route or the forgotten torch way. personally i like the torch variant. also your missing two drops, like novice or loot
anyway some cards i would recommend trying (and that i use in my list) and cutting would be: (in my fun version i use yogg as well, but in my serious version i dont, so i wont mention him)
my personal preference: kirin tor (had a previous post where i mentioned how i dont think it fits in), antonidas, and forbidden flame for two novices and a loot or vice-versa (personally i like novices more)
other things to consider is running a second blizzard for either the flamestrike or cone of cold, because in my experience against high ranked players is that they usually set up their boards to play around CoC or flamestrike, but i do like flamstrike more than CoC
i do like the single copy of ice barrier. as i feel having a flamestrike or a draw card in its place is more valuable. i have dabbled with cult apothecary and usually the times you need to heal is verse an aggro deck and the times cult is at its best is when your staring down a hoard of minions and obviously a nova + doom is much better in those circumstances. and normally after a doomsayer popping is when you want to develop a minion. so what ended up happening to me a bunch of times was i'd play cult apothecary after the turn my doomsayer popped and literally got no healing from it at all
my philosophy with freeze mage decks is draw, stall and burn and every card in your deck should fit into one or more of those categories (emperor fits in, because he helps you do all three) and currently what your deck is lacking is more draw so please no matter what help yourself by putting it 1-4 copies of novice/loot and dedicate your deck to one style of fireball production double torch or antonidas (and an archmage deck can certainly include one copy of torch to help remove early game minions). also one final helpful hint is that the torch variant is a little more aggressive than the archmage route, so because of this torch versions and the very nature of the torches themselves need even more cycle cards and less defensive cards then their archmage counterparts. and in antonidas variants you need as many defensive options as you can get because you often need one turn of fireball production, and then possibly two more turns after that to use all of those fireballs
anyway i hope i was able to help some and in some way benefits you freeze mage game. and best of luck freeze the ladder my friend
also if wondering who i am and if you should take anything i said with a grain of salt, well, while i'm not a pro player or a streamer, and despite only staring to play hearthstone about 7 months ago i've been legend each of the last three all while playing a freeze mage, which i've logged at least 2000-3000 games with, so i have a little experience. but yet again, for me, playing without mad scientist is such a foreign concept, that maybe i have no idea what form freeze mage will take in this brave new world of standard
Forbidden Flame won't be that good i guess... If you want to clear a minion in this meta, Flame Lance will be the ****.
True but I'm thinking about the big minions that were introduced and you be facing. The 3 extra damage you get will be worth it imo.
-Pyroblast
+Forbidden flame
Its 10 damage at 10 anyway...
Yeah good point, But i still wouldnt take pyro i in a yogg deck!
Im not going to be a dick to this author and link my own variation but you want quick spells!
