Cry of C'thun utilizes C'thun buff minions as well as other strong battlecries and card draw to start off as a midrange minion deck that transitions into control smoothly in the late game.
If you like the deck, give it an upvote! If the deck gets 15 upvotes I will write up a full guide as well as card choices.
Edit 1: I updated to Add Brawl in place of Big Game Hunter. In the end, seeing the decks in the current meta, I think that the board clear that Brawl is more useful.
Edit 2: I took out one Ancient Shieldbearer for a Twin Emperor Vek'lor. It adds a lot of potential for board presence (as well as Brann Bronzebeard combo potential).
Edit 3: After playing 10 games I went 7-3. I changed up a few things to make Reno Jackson more consistent and added Crazed Worshipper to help with making sure C'Thun gets to the very necessary 10/10 stats.
Currently 14-5 with the deck.
So far it seems like it has a hard time getting to 10/10 C'thun. You need mulligan for decent control cards, and often times you end up with a ton of CThun end game cards plus Reno, and they're just dead for most of the game.
Lost 4 games in a row where I had bran combos in hand, but 9/9 CThun T_T
Trying to mulligan to keep the earlier game C'Thun cards can help a lot with this. Always look for Fiery War Axe, Slam, and the early C'Thun minions.
I actually think Skeram Cultist is a rather bad card, especially since it doesn't affect the board immediately, which is something this deck needs. Honestly, a better replacement would probably be Emperor Thaurissan since it affects your hand on your turn and forces them to trade or use removal because of its natural value.
I don't have malkorok but is he a must or can he be replaced? If so what can i replace it with ?
He is good but not necessarily a must. If you have a Gorehowl use that. if not, an Arcanite Reaper can work.
Personally not a fan of Elise Starseeker so im using Justicar Trueheart instead, working great for me
Justicar Trueheart doesn't give you an immediate board effect like most of the strong battlecry minions in the deck. However, in the longer games Justicar Trueheart can really shine so I think she is a fair replacement.
substitute for black knight?
Sylvanas Windrunner will do quite nicely. I think The Black Knight is great in the meta right now but Sylvanas Windrunner does extremely well also.
There are just too many repeated cards to make Reno viable in this C'Thun deck.
I have updated to make sure that Reno is more consistent. Try it out now and tell me how it feels!
Looks a lot better! The problem before was that many of the cards were higher value cards that don't get mulliganed. Your repeated cards here are still very playable and can potentially be held on to. Still not sure about the general utility of a RenoMonkeyC'Thun deck, Reno can be an auto concede for aggro (win condition), getting Elise out early puts on a lot of midgame pressure and then is a win condition except against control if you don't get Monkey until the last 10 cards, and of course C'Thun is the win condition of all win conditions. I say all this because I want MonkeyReno to work in the post Death's Bite/Crush/Shieldmaiden era.
With playtesting the deck has changed shape a lot and I think it is in a good spot right now. Thanks a bunch for the feedback, it helped me make some of the right changes!
Why so many repeated cards?
The repeats are staple parts of the deck needed to control the game. Unless you get extremely unlucky, you shouldn't have a problem getting your Reno to activate even though there are a few duplicates. You will be looking to use reno much later in the game where it shouldn't be a problem.
nice deck you got there
Great deck!! Why no brawl though?
I like this move, potentially really good deck! Let me know how it works for you
