You need to go for your early ramp as hard as possible, while also keeping the cheap removal spells available!
Top Priority:
With the Coin or Innervate in hand you can keep the Mire Keeper, against very aggressive decks it might also be necessary to keep the Feral Rage (e.g. kill a Totem Golem with it)
Raven Idol is a nice to have card early on as well, but the value of the card will increase in combination with Fandral Staghelm later in the game, so if you a good hand already you can replace that one and get back to it in the mid - to lategame!
Replacements
Ancient of War -> Wisps of the Old Gods
Facing too much aggro? Try to add Doomsayer (e.g. you can cut the Savage Roar in this case)!
PS: Wow, the deck made it to the front page! Thanks for the upvotes guys! If you need more info/help just comment below and I will add more stuff here, thanks :)
Great deck, but I can't survive the aggro. Think i'll have to switch :(
No problem I understand u fine! :)
As I mentioned below I would craft Cenarius instead of Onyxia.
im using rag instead of cenarius/onyxia...it seems to be working well! imo neither cenarius or onyxia are worth crafting if u want to play other decks since they are almost only playable in druid atm...
Doomsayer is really the best option for druid, otherwise the AoE potential is pretty slim and Zoo is the hardest matchup for the deck in general. You can cheat a bit if you are lucky enough to get more Swipes through the Raven Idol (btw. you need to keep swipe on the starting hand to kill your opp. minions on turn 3/4). Otherwise you can play starfall or Baron Geddon but both are not optimal and might be too slow for you.
what do u think of starfall? good because of yogg and synergizes with fandral. i personnaly dont play it but i take it from raven idol vs aggro decks... its also especially good with azure drake. you cantry starfall if you are facing a lot of aggro.
I'd definitely go for Cenarius if you want to craft one of the two.
Is Soggoth good rep for Onyxia/Cenarius?
You already have a good taunt in the Ancient of War, Soggoth is not as good as the other two in this deck (stronger in a warrior control though)
Amazing deck, so happy I found this. This is how Hearthstone should be - fun + crazy rng combo :D
P.S. Personally prefer Cenarius > Onyxia. At the end you either buff a controlled board or bow down before the God of Death.
I agree and in my personal deck I also put in the Cenarius but as XiXo was using the Onyxia I definitely wanted to include it in the list :)
Honestly, I prefer to cut Ancient of War *and* Onyxia. I run Cenarius and Ragnaros, the Firelord in their place, which I think is FAR stronger for a number of reasons.
This list did convince me to remove one card which I am on the fence about, and that is Soul of the Forest. It can be a massive game-changing bomb, or it can sit in your hand doing fucking nothing all game. Obviously you'd only want one, but yeah. As many games as it feels like it has turned in my favor, I think that Feral Rage will win me even more in the long-run, it's already been extremely useless every time I have drawn it - more than I can say for Soul.
Now, I do run 2x Druid of the Claw in my deck. Because I think they are really fucking good and simply one of the most versatile and efficient 5-drops in the game. I use the Cat Form a lot, though, and most people are afraid to use the Cat Form and don't really understand the full power and versatility and strength of tempo that the card has, especially as a Charger, So many people go with Bear Form because it's simply easier and they feel like it's *always* a strong option, unlike Cat Form which is a strong option only in certain circumstances. Way too many players are either too stupid or too afraid to go with the right option in a great number of the circumstances, almost to the point where they just *always* use Bear Form and practically forget that Cat Form even exists.
A quick story on this - a week or 2 ago I played a Druid vs Druid match around rank 10, and it was a long game and neither of us was giving much, back and forth for at least 15 turns until we were both very low on life, and both of us in topdeck mode. I remember clearly - he was down to 5 life and the one armor he would gain from using Shapeshift, so 6 life total, and I was sitting at 4 life and 1 armor myself - 5 life total. I had a currently useless Mulch in my hand, and had drawn Emperor Thaurissan, and plunked it right down and I continued our trading a point of armor back and forth with Shapeshift but hoped this would be soon be game as he had nothing in his hand but what he was about to draw. He draws his card... and plays Druid of the Claw! For a second I was about to concede; after all, 4 points of charge damage + Shapeshift = Lethal. But of course, he had used Bear Form, not Cat Form, presumably just not thinking clearly. And obviously I mulched it and won the next turn, but not before he could concede. This is an extreme example but you see this stuff happening alllll the time.
There is a bit reason that you do NOT see any other 4/4 Charge minions for 5 mana, and that's because the Charge mechanic is busted as hell, and Blizzard knows this, and they do not like to print cards that Charge anymore because the tempo advantage is too huge. Combing DotC with Fandral Staghelm is one of the most busted-ass fun things in the entire game - what can I say? Maybe Raven Idol and Power of the Wild are even more busted with Fandral, but still. It's all fun and I think with all the aggro out there you're gonna want two of the best taunters in the game in your deck. Especially because they double as one of the best Chargers in the game when you happen to go up against a C'Thun deck or a Reno Jackson deck or whatever, which ain't exactly rare, even in this meta.
That's a long comment man, thanks for laying out your thoughts, that might help one to decide what to play and what not! :)
Would you mind showing me what your deck looks like so I can try it as well?
Cenarius instead Druid of the Claw.
I'm having a hard time with Zoo and dragon warrior, what can I sub in?
Just a general guideline here for you:
I dont know why but I think Zoo is easy. As OP said just ramp up quickly and they will not be able to compete your board.
Shaman on the other hand, is way harder matchup. Main reason is because they have the AOE removal.
yogg druid is good atm because it counters zoo heavily
is it possible to replace Fandral?
Absolutely not! It's just a very good card all around and it fits the deck perfectly.
