Hi, everyone. I am answering Ben Brode's call for the unicorn priest and came up with this Reno Elise N'zoth Priest deck. Quickly streaked up to rank 5.
This deck is designed to beat shaman, zoo and warrior. It has a plateau curve, meaning you can most likely mulligan well.
Against aggro, heal and stall for board clears. Overwhelm with better mid-range and late game minions.
Against control, our win conditions are Nzoth, confessor and Elise. Try to entomb sylvanas or cthun or a big deathrattle like Tirion.
Note about matchups:
Highly Favored matchups: cthun warrior (80/20), Nzoth Paladin (80/20), totem shaman (70/30), control shaman (70/30), zoo (70/30)
Slightly Favored: Token Druid (60/40), renolock (55/45), dragon warrior (55/45)
Slightly Unfavored: Cthun Druid (45/55), miracle rogue (45/55), face shaman (40/60), tempo mage (40/60)
Unfavored matchups: hunter (25/75), pirate warrior (25/75)
Some Tech choices against aggro:
Classic embrace the shadows, Auchenai + circle of healing - the 2 or 4 mana flamestrike. Can combo with Darkshire Alchemist for 5 damage burst.
Shadow word: horror - This card is highly underrated. Amazing against zoo and shaman. Kills knife juggler, councilman, feral spirit, and totems, etc. Can also be used on Acolyte of pain to deny draw. Against control, you can use it to kill doomsayers. Very versatile.
Abomination: Solid taunt. Keep in mind it deals two damage to all characters including yourself. Also comes back from Nzoth. Note: can be replaced with chillmaw or infested tauren. This version is teched against aggro.
Wild Pyromancer: Classic whirlwind deal 1 to all. Can be comboed with many spells.
Shadow Madness: Can take out two small minions. Keep in mind a controlled deathrattle will leave its minion with you. If you shadow madness a harvest golem or twilight summoner, the 2/1 or 5/5 will stay on your side. Nzoth will also bring it back :)
Excavated Evil: Solid 3 damage clear. Keep in mind your opponent gets it too, so heal minions above 3 hp.
Doomsayer: Almost a must in reno decks. Stalls a turn for heals.
Mind control tech - good against shaman & zoo. Still a solid 3/3
Cabal Shadowpriest - stealing a minion = destroy and summon one. Amazing value. Target high value targets like flamewaker, councilman, knife juggler, etc.
Tech choices against control:
Confessor Paletress - solid card. Can get some insane legends. On average, the value is higher than 9 mana.
Big game hunter - still good after nerf. Sometimes, you can drop below 15 health to take out that 9/9 drakonid crusher.
N'zoth - core of this deck. play around brawl if you can. We have 4 deathrattles (1 of which has taunt) + 1 entomb target or + 1 from shadow madness.
Elise - our second win condition.
Thoughtsteal - Fun card. Can get some insane options. It's also very good for elise, because we draw an extra card not in the deck. Essentially making our deck "31" cards.
Forbidden Shaping - Try to use on 8 mana. Good to play if you can't play on curve.
Will add more details for mulligan guide for specific matchups with 50+ upvotes.
I made this deck missing bgh, forbidden shapping and embrace the shadow and so far its been super fun and Ive had a decent win rate with it as well. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, glad you like the deck! The beauty of a reno deck is that you can have so many options. This list is a bit limited to my pool of cards, but I've found bgh to be useful because we only have 1 copy of shadow word death and entomb. You can try replacing it with kodo, faceless, spellbreaker, or other utility cards. Shaping can be replaced with ragnaros or cairne or any heavier cards. Embrace is more of a flexible spot. I'm sure you can find plenty of good replacements :)
