It works against aggro and control if you play it well.
Answering some questions
What makes it hybrid (card selection):
Doomsayer: This is a card most common in control warrior, if you have this card in your opening hand against aggro it's a lot of tempo gained, also it allows some goods tempo swing against control.
Elise: This card is amazing vs "mirror" C'thun or control warrior, it gives you a lot of possibilities to win the fatigue matchup.
Gorehowl: insane value vs control and midrange, and also a good finisher against aggro.
Justicar Trueheart: nothing to explain here.
Why not brann? It's true that you can get a lot of value playing it, but I think doomsayer is better. Turn 10 to combo it with Twins or Ancient Shieldbearer could be great, but most of the time, if you survived to then against aggro, you already won. So I think it's better to have an advantage on the early game, or that tempo swing.
What about -1 Acolyte of Pain +1 Brann Bronzebeard?
first game lost turn 4 to druid

what makes this hybrid?
Elise mostly.
Most C'Thun warrior decks run a bunch of the C'Thun minions to build his value sure/quick. This deck has three board clears, four big minion clears and Gorehowl to out-value your opponent. You don't care so much about what he plays, as you can just remove it. You then win with C'Thun and the big minions you have left. There's enough armor gain to win in fatigue if you have to. Elise Starseeker gives you options, if what you have left in your deck is small stuff. Definitely a control deck, play it patiently.
