Update- Hey guys I have made some changes to the deck on my second climb.
Minus 2 Northshire Cleric, Plus 2 Mind Vision.
Minus 2 Injured Blademaster, Plus 2 Thoughtsteal.
I'm actually having great success with the changes. Not only do those cards have more synergy with Yogg-Saron, but also impact your turn on cast rather than having to wait for a combo to happen. Try it out and see how it goes.
Had some fun games with this deck.. 2 mind visions picking up 2 call of the wilds before turn 8 made for an interesting game :)
Kinda pointless showing a video of gameplay at rank 17... that's a very low rank and players around that rank are very easy to beat.
I am still planning to continue the grind to legend on eu with the deck which is what you see in the video. The problem is...Im waiting till the weekend when im off work and can play without distractions.
Yes I did, this deck is meant to beat dragon warrior which is very popular in sub rank 5. There are rarely any shamans or zoo locks because their w/r vs dragon warrior is about 40%.
I thought I'd try it with a few tweaks. Maybe my tweaks killed the deck?
-2 Mind Vision
-2 Acolyte of Pain-1 Ragnaros
-1 Harrison
+2 Museum Curator
+2 Shifting Shade
+1 Sylvanas
+1 N'Zoth
So, I grab teh deck and head over to Casual to test er out. I get a demoralizing loss vs. a Warlock that is running a bunch of crap. Boulderfist Ogers, Pit lords, Hungry Dragons etc...
I hang my head in shame.
Glad your finding success but this is utter trash for me.
I like Priest class, and I am pretty unhappy with it's current state right now.
And I downvoted this deck because of reasons which look very straight for me:
- this is not Priest deck, this is <spells> + Yogg-Saron deck, and thinking from the perspective of Yogg spell deck I can't understand why not Mage
- win condition are very dependant on two legendary cards which have random effects ( and I am not even talking about Starseeker which sometimes used in control Warrior decks, but about Yogg and Ragnaros)
- the only spell synergy here is Wild Pyromancer and Acolyte of Pain while having Wild Pyromancer on board. Aside mentioned above are not Priest cards, it is also no match to spell synergy of Mage minions.
If you did "like" priest, you would understand this is a typical priest deck. Priest has always run a ton of spells in a majority of their decks, especially control priest. Yogg-Saron is a brilliant addition, since as Priest you always play a ton of spells.
Win condition is to exhaust the enemy of resources. Priest's win condition has always been that. It does not rely on Yogg, nor Rag to win the game. Those cards are in there as another reliable way to clear the board.
Wild Pyromancer is amazing in priest, you have so many cheap spells and just absolutely destroys zoo with the right cards. You have obviously never even played a Priest deck that isn't tempo or combo deck.
Also, your "spell synergy" argument makes no sense. There's the Auchenai combo in the deck, for heavens sake.
You've never played priest before. This is coming from someone who's played 1000+ games of priest and has the golden hero.
Thank you for this deck! It's surely fun to play, & I've made a winrate at about 70% in 20 matches on rank 7. With all these warriors in current meta you particularly have all the answers you need. And yes, Yogg onelove, such a gamechanger.
I do miss controladins, it's so fun to steal Forbidden Healing & then punish with Soulpriest.
Although maybe the deck is still vulnerable a bit to straightup aggro like zoolock. Dunno if Nova\Evil worth a slot.
Where is the Priest deck Ben Brode is talking about???
I demand it now
There is no such thing.... Ben is either very high, or doesn't play his own game...
Thank you for deck. Had a lot of fun with this list, and wr above 50% PogChamp
Awsome man glad you liked it. Thanks for sharing your stats.
If you got to legend with this deck, then you did so with a lot of grinding and a LOT of luck.
Overall, this deck, as well as every other priest deck, IS NOT VIABLE, due to the priest's basic/classic cards not being up to par to do anything. There are no buffs, there is no combos, there is no card draw, and there is no AoE, Priest is screwed.
Hey there Zeropoint, there ARE good Priest builds that can perform on ladder well enough to NOT lose more than 50% of games and so you can climb with it. I have been running some similar builds and this holds true. But as you say, the grind time is INSANE. The win rates with Priest are so close to 50/50 that it takes forever to gain ranks with it and then the deck itself makes for a long game for winning... or a short game if you're losing. So what I would say about Priest is this, it's not impossible on ladder but it is extremely unrewarding and that's really why it's a poor choice of decks if you're just interested in wins. Priest right now should only be played for the fun experience, if you enjoy that sort of thing (hardcore Priest players understand what I mean). The class has rarely if ever been good for climbing, it just takes too long. Even the OP of this deck probably played most of his games with other classes and then switched to this Priest deck for a short amount of games. It's just too unreasonable to expect to do it with Priest alone unless you have all day to play this game like Zetalot.
No buffs? Healing can be seen as a buff. Buff your dudes to not go to 0 hp when they get hit for non-lethal amounts seems pretty good.
No combos? What do you consider Auchenai + any healing? What do you consider Wild Pyro + spells, with Acolyte in play etc?
No card draw? What do you consider Thoughtsteal, Acolyte?
No AoE? What do you consider Auchenai + Circle? Wild Pro + Spells?
??????
No, healing is not a buff. Divine Spirit andInner Fire are a buff, and pretty shitty ones at that. Velen's Chosen was a good buff, but we don't have access to that anymore; therefore, what I said remains true...unless you consider Power Word: Tentacles to be a worthy buff, in which case, I would call you a damn fool.
As for combo's, the argument that Auchenai + any healing is a good combo is absolutely retarded. For one, Priest has almost no healing capability in regard to spells - which is just plain crazy, considering the class. Also, the Auchenai + Circle of healing combo is worthless because it hurts your side of the board as well, thus negating any advantage you could have had.
The use of the Wild Pyro is pointless as well, considering priest has very limited spells to synergize with it, You basically only have Power Word: Shield (not a worthy card to have in a competitive deck anymore), Shadow Word: Pain (A situation card that, while good in this meta, is rarely used in good decks and should never be used with wild pyro), then you have thoughtsteal and holy nova which can be good, but rarely are.
Priest has a VERY difficult time with card draw. Northshire Cleric no longer works, due to the extremely fast meta, and usually dies before you can even use her. Without the cleric, Priest has Power Word: Shield, Thoughtsteal, and Mass Dispel to rely on for card draw, as far as spells go. Acolyte of Pain is generally considered a huge threat and you will only be able to draw one card with him. Maybe two if you are lucky. With that said, there really is no way to cycle through a priest deck without huge sacrifices (Wild Pyro, Power World shield, Northshire Cleric and circle of healing) - that particular combo requires 4 cards, and generally nets you 4 or 5 cards which is not a good trade off considering how many cards you had to spend to activate it.
Priest AoE is a joke. You have the lame Auchenai + Circle of healing which hurts you just as much as it hurts your opponent, and then you have Excavated Evil which also hurts you AND gives your opponent the same card to throw right back at you. And then you have the lame ass Holy Nova, which will never clear a board, and costs too much for what it does.
So if you are looking for an apology, you're not getting one because priest, as I have clearly pointed out, is lacking in all areas, and this needs to be remedied with a complete overhaul of the entire class.
Thanks for the share :D ! Good job getting high legend with priest FeelsGoodMan :D !
After playing a few games, this deck is REALLY fun. I added 2 Shifting Shade in place of the Acolytes to complement the "thief" theme. The irony is that this deck uses Priest's weakness as its strength: Priest doesn't have a viable deck (from its own set), so it uses your opponents cards.
Protip: Use golden Mind Visions, Thoughtsteals, and Shifting Shades to get your opponents cards in golden.
thanks I like that idea too
