A rough idea for a Blood of The Ancient One deck inspired by Disguised Toast. Not very good by any stretch of the imagination but it should be fun when it's successfully pulled off. This is merely for casual fun and by no means a competitive deck. It's also almost never going to work, so there's no need to tell me that.
The strategy is very simple: control the board while drawing as much as possible, hoping to get Barnes and at least one Shadowstep by turn 6. At which point, you play Barnes, Shadowstep him, and then replay him to get two 1/1 Bloods into play, which will merge together into The Ancient One. Then you hope that your opponent is too stunned that you attempt such a plan and doesn't kill it with the numerous amounts of removal and win.
Have fun.
Since it seems to be brought up often, Conceal does not work with this. The 30/30 spawns at the end of your turn, at which point you cannot conceal it. Brann and Yogg are options that you can add. However, you would need to draw them before playing Barnes. Otherwise, Barnes may pull a copy of one of them instead, which will most likely disrupt obtaining two Bloods off of the Barnes + Shadowstep. They can definitely help make the deck semi-legitimate and you can probably drop Beneath the Grounds or Preparation + Sprint for them. Also, Journey Below is another option to help control the board early if you can get something like Harvest Golem or Tomb Pillager from it.
Update edit: Journey Below is definitely helpful. It creates more targets for removal or early board control, in a best case scenario. While the deck is still rarely going to work as intended, it at least has a bit more consistency in trying to survive with those cards added. I dropped a Prep and Sprint for them, since there rarely was a situation where I wanted to draw more cards.
Have you tried the deck out yet? I managed to pull off a hilarious win against a mage around rank 13 where I had no bloods left to Barnes so I used Gang Up on his Ragnaros and then played Barnes and Shadowstepped him to get two of my own mini-Rags. I've added Journey Below and Brann but I'm not sure how I feel about Brann yet. He screwed over a play in a game I was going to lose anyway but if that happened when I needed it, that would be unfortunate.
I played it out a bit with expected results. Although in the first game, I got both Barnes and a Shadowstep in my opening hand against a Rogue that used up her Saps on Beneath the Grounds tokens and didn't have an answer for a turn 6 30/30. The rest of the matches weren't nearly as successful, but that's to be expected.
I'd run Gadgetzan Auctioneer instead of sprints and also add 2 Conceal. I think it'll be more consistent since Barnes will have more synergies and you'll be able to hide both (Gadgetzan Auctioneer and [card]Blood of The Ancient One[/card]) from threats.
I also made a similar deck a day or 2 ago, but instead of the ancient one i just used alot of other cards that might go with barnes and make it a little more of a viable deck
oh shit thats good idea , but it should be with mage and make 1 turn to kill your enemy
Barnes gets Brann --> Shadowstep Barnes --> Barnes gets two more Brann
What? Brann is not in your deck anymore.
Ok for the second.
Barnes doesn't pull the card out of the deck. It pulls a copy out of the deck. Brann would still be in the deck and therefore a valid target for Barnes.
Oh! Incredible.
I didn't know that. Thanks a lot. What a tricks.
Brann is an obvious choice to add, and yogg wouldn't hurt given the spells
Needs Brann Bronzebeard.
and also Conceal
Brann adds an inconsistency that has to be drawn alongside Barnes. Otherwise, it can disrupt the combo. Conceal would not protect the 30/30, since it spawns at end of turn.
Too much reliance on RNG to be effective most of the time, but wonderful rogue deck.
Put 2 conceals to keep your 30/30 alive.
This will probabbly be enough to make the deck semi-viable :D
Along with the saps and the other removal you should be able to get free wins even if they taunt up assuming they don't deadly shot and you have okay draws. Start by removing the beneath the grounds for 2 conceals
I see potential but the deck needs optimization
Problem is, Conceal won't work on the 30/30. It only appears at the end of your turn, after you've used Conceal.
As I said in the description, this is never going to work in a real match. This is just for fun.
Oh that's sad then :(
I was already hyped at trying this xD
what about adding Conceals to protect the 1/1's? Sure they still die to AOE, but that's gotta up the odds of them surviving.
They don't need to survive as they will meld at the end of the turn into the ancient one.
It could be nice as a last ditch YOLO option, but can also get in the way of the main strategy of the deck.
At no point is the decks supposed to be good. I even said as such in the description. "It's also almost never going to work, so there's no need to tell me that." And even when the 30/30 dies, I highly doubt a last ditch Yogg is going to change anything anyway, assuming you live that long to begin with.
