Final Update: I will stop playing this deck now because i reached my 500 wins with druid. The deck underperformed the last two days, partly because the hunter matchup went from +80% to actually pretty bad (new secret version since karazhan) and because alot of people seem to be playing the nobrainer-decks (shaman, zoo) which aren't good matchups either. I peaked at rank 2 full stars and finished rank 4. To sum everything up: I enjoyed playing this version of token druid but the other existing versions are more popular for a reason. Thanks everyone, have a great day and bye!
I would like to show you my own version of the popular "Token Druid". I cut out alot of the defensive options (taunts) and included even more ways to fill up and/or buff the existing board. With the current version i went from rank 8 to rank 5 and scored 10-1 (91% #hype! xD). Indeed, its just a small sample size but i will try to continue to legend and will update as i go.
FIRST UPDATE: I just wanted to update you guys after ~50 games with this decklist. After hitting rank 5 i got a huge losing streak but thats pretty much expected after winning alot of games in a row. Im still at rank 5 and got 30 wins and 23 losses - 57,7 % winrate, which is not too bad as you will "only" need ~150 games to get to legend from rank 5 with this winning percentage. For those who are interested in the numbers i highly recommend reading this: https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/2gkz9n/data_on_how_many_games_it_should_take_to_get_to/
Lets talk about the most eye-catching numbers briefly:
34% of games vs Warrior - 61,1% winrate (100% vs Control/C'thun, 50% vs Dragon)
The slower the better. You got time to build up your board and more often than not you can fill it up more often than getting cleared. The faster decks are way more difficult. I also played vs some Pirate/Aggro - not a good matchup.
15% of games vs Hunter - 100%! winrate 8/0!
You will probably flood the board before turn 8 and then they either have to trade with Call of the Wild (which is bad for them) or they will have to face some kind of combo and die.
15% of games vs Druid - 25% only 2/6 - This matchup shouldn't be too bad but the one who gets his ramp and or flood turn first will probably win. I only won 2 games because i had amazing Yoggs so i was probably pretty unlucky overall - i guess.
Just a handful of games: 28,5 % winrate vs Paladin (Aggro/N'Zoth), 25% against Warlock (Zoo) - either too fast (Aggro/Zoo) or too much board clear.
Notable Cards:
Arch-Thief Rafaam (Tech vs Warriors, one more way to fill up the board, i actually played a Sea Giant instead from rank 17 to ~10 because its way better vs Shaman and Zoo)
2x Force of Nature (filling up the board once again)
2x Wisps of the Old Gods (and again, and again... oh, and sometimes buffing it too!)
Picture related: Typical situation vs Warriors. This was a C'Thun Warrior with 2x Brawl and 2x Revenge - not enough board clear anyway with this version of Token Druid!
Farming Warriors - feelsgoodman
And sometimes they got enough - Savjz owning me with Paladin! https://www.twitch.tv/savjz/v/81890229?t=04h36m46s
Dude, this deck is hella strong and fun. I replaced rafaam with onyxia to make it a bit faster, and I have over 10 different ways to flood the board. With double savage roar and also soul of the forest, I often only need one sticky turn to win the game. This deck got the potential to beat any decks with crazy turns and burst, will not be hard to make legend with it.
Thanks man, i won't continue to legend with it but is possible without a doubt. Onyxia is faster and probably better in every matchup except warrior.
Not much of a Druid player but soooo many warriors!! Will you write guide?
Druid is definitely one of the better decks vs Warriors. Another recommendation would be RenoLock. I won't write a guide because there are already alot of them out there for Token Druid decks and the playstyle doesn't differ too much. Take a look at this guide from J4CKIECHAN for example: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/562644-yogg-token-druid-guide-by-j4ckiechan
Good luck smashing some warrior faces! (...i just reached rank 4 btw... #hype)
Thanks and good job. I only had 3 games vs Mage out of 54 games total now (2W/1L).
replacement for Cenarius?
Cenarius is quite unique because more often than not you will buff the whole board with him and he is also a threat that has to be dealt with. That being said, i will give you some options which will not really replace him but give you some other advantages.
The Boring: Nourish, Druid of the Claw, Azure Drake, Ancient of War
The Creative: Sea Giant, Volcanic Lumberer
thx for answer, was thinking about lumberer) sadly got no dust for cenarius.
Golden Cenarius.
This deck looks cool, and I wonder how it will be without the taunts tho. There is a lot of aggro on the ladder, and taunts are very nice to have against them
Tokens often times have got what i call "invisible taunt". Your opponent is forced to trade because otherwise he is at the risk of just dying to some kind of savage roar combo. Fandral is also an example. He is too much of a threat to be ignored. So instead of playing a Druid of the Claw vs Zoo, which will just die to Power Overwhelming you got Force of Nature. In this case, if you want to trade, you can often times even trade with 3 minions instead of just one. And vs Shaman you got Wisps of the Old Gods instead of Ancient of War, which will just be punished by Hex. True, you can be punished hard by different kinds of board clears but my advice is to not play around them too much. Gamble a bit and more often than not you will be rewarded.
Nice deck! I will give it a try.
