This is a refined resurrect priest which has tools that help you against aggro which, believe it or not, is todays meta. The deck that I am referring to is KevinStarr's build which is the most upvoted resurrect priest on hearthpwn atm, I'll leave a link to it here:
http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/612485-onik-ressurect-priest
KevinStarr has a build focused on N'Zoth, the Corruptor as a win condition which in my opinion is too inconsistent for today's meta. While his version has N'zoth as a win condition that requires him to play minions with deathrattles that take up room for other efficient cards, this deck only needs one card; Elise Starseeker.
I chose to exclude the Injured Blademasters and the Resurrects. Even though blademaster is good to get from Onyx Bishop, it's more of a tempo-based play rather than a control-based one and since priest isn't a tempo-based class, it just doesn't hold in the long term. Excluding the resurrects makes blademaster weaker in this deck, they are excluded from the deck because I'd rather run Wild Pyromancer (which KevinStarr's deck doesn't) to have more options regarding AoE.
This deck includes Priest of the Feast which is a very helpful tool against aggressive decks. For example, priest always had a problem with hunter since their hero powers overlapped each other. Now, thanks to this card, priest can slowly get out of range from Rexxar's burst.
This deck runs Embrace the Shadow instead of Auchenai Soulpriest for the Circle of Healing board clear because I simply think that it's better. By using auchenai you're left with a 3/1 that is very easy to clear, for example by an Argent Squire that survived the board clear. With embrace, you can add your hero power on the same turn to pop that squire's divine shield, or just add that additional two damage if needed. It also increases the chance of getting something good from Barnes or Onyx Bishop. It's better with Priest of the Feast because it only lasts for one turn.
By excluding some of KevinStarr's tools, I managed to find room for Brann Bronzebeard. He is absolutely nuts with Barnes or with the bishop when your bigger minions already have died. However, if you feel that his presence lowers the consistency of the deck, you could cut him for something else. For example Mind Vision to strengthen your priest of the feast, blademaster to make some tempo plays or even Yogg-Saron, Hope's End since the deck is running quite a few spells.
Not that I am nitpicking, but this deck is performing way too poorly for any upvotes. Maybe I am playing sub-optimally, but further refinements from my suggestions includes replacing some of the heavier cards (ysera and rag maybe) for earlier game board presence so you don't get wrecked so badly by aggro. Just my two cents worth. Hope they help for future deck refinements. Cheers! :)
You won't get to legend with this. The other classes just have much better cards. I'm not trying to be negative or anything, I am just stating the obvious. Priest, without Lightbomb, is utter trash!
Priest has no card draw, no combos, no AoE that allows for minions on your side of the board to stay on the board (holy nova doesn't count because it's a shit card), and he has no tempo due to his shitty hero power that will never be good.
There is a running joke that when the developers design new cards, the other classes get all the cards that work, while priest gets the defective cards that didn't work in any deck. Priest is, literally, a bottom feeder!
It's a good deck though, and if people want to play priest then w/e...
this deck is much better than the N'Zoth, the Corruptorversion that's for sure
It might be just me, but I'm finding that this deck can get wrecked by other control decks. Also, Brann feels too hit and miss, often the extra Barnes/Bishop Proc ends up being not that great, subbed it for confessor. Increases the strength of both Barnes/ bishop adds one more late game threat that can be played on turn 7 in a pinch and random legendaries can not only be game winning but further increase the resurrection pool. I mean, if you're aiming to go full Elise, why not!
Yeah, I think it might just be my inexperience with playing control priest (I only have like 200 ranked wins) that I'm wasting removal too early or not making optimal plays with pyro, confessor has been going really well, it's nice to have a t9 play that benefits from using your hero power, especially if you're in need of healing your face/minions
I really like this idea, but would it have a place for maybe Prophet Velen ? You have synergy with embrace and flash heal....
It might not be enough tho :/
Does this struggle with lack of card draw?
Elise Starseeker is sure consistent as hell
Ysera's far too slow in the meta, any reason you're not running Justicar?
Ysera is very playable in the environment given the right deck.
Interesting take. Im just curious but what are you trying to mulligan for in this deck?
