Deck list in game

Hey everyone, hope you guys did well on ladder last season. In this post, I will share the deck that I had a lot of success with you guys, and also make a guide on how to play this deck.

Introduction

Some of you might have seen a similar deck before couple months ago, which was the tempo warrior, Tier 1 deck at that time but since then went downhill. And in this season I've rebuilt the whole deck with the same concept but with better execution in making card choices. This deck has brought me up to Legend rank 205 all the way from rank 5 in just 2 days (last two days). The deck has great synergy/combos while still being very consistent. Moreover this deck is very good against hunters. And guess what, the ladder now is filled with hunters! This is what makes it such a great deck for laddering! Others who have tried this deck out also had unexpected outcomes too, bringing them up to rank 5 from rank 14ish.

Deck guide

The deck aims to get board control very early on with high health minions like Sir Finley Mrrgglton, Armorsmith and the cookie cutter Fiery War Axe. Later supported by the formidable midrange minions like Frothing Berserker and Kor'kron Elite to keep up the pressure before finishing your opponent off with the good old Ragnaros the Firelord and Grommash Hellscream. The above is the basics of the deck.

One of the strengths of the deck is the amount of fuel it has. The deck runs double Acolyte of Pain and Battle Rage for burst card draws. This allows you to unleash your hand and quickly recover even if your board gets cleared entirely.

Although the amount of draws can get you huge advantage, establishing a board is deemed more important than just drawing cards. Because having a board is very beneficial with this deck, as it has many synergies with whirlwind effects combined with Battle RageArmorsmith and of course the mighty Frothing Berserker.

One of the most important things that you have to know playing with this deck is setting up lethal over 2~3 turns, not just one turn lethals. Sometimes playing a minion or fully utilizing all mana seems like a better play, but in reality e.g. equiping a weapon and going face is the correct play because it sets up lethal. With that being said, beware of classes that can easily get out of lethal range like priest and warrior. And keep in mind that taunt is a big counter for this deck, so keeping an execute in hand for Grommash Hellscream to kill your opponent is advised!

Common questions

Why Rampage?

Because it is very powerful against hunters and shamans in the early game if you put it on Sir Finley Mrrgglton and Armorsmith. Furthermore most people don't play around it, making it extra handy in the current meta since it messes up the opponent's plays most of the time.

(I will add your questions here if you have got any)

I hope you liked my guide+my deck, wish you all luck on ladder! This has been Legorz#3869

Below is a very in depth-guide by Jetstream and me.

Tech decisions:

Aggro Tech:

-1 Ragnaros the Firelord +1 Fierce Monkey

-1 Azure Drake +1 Whirlwind

Control Tech:

-1 Arathi Weaponsmith +1 Malkorok

Mulligans and Matchups:

Against Warrior:

1- C’thun/Control Warrior: (Favored) This one shouldn’t really pose much of a problem since you’re probably going to outvalue AND out tempo them pretty early in the game. Just keep an eye out for Brawl and never overextend unless you’re positive on having a lethal on the following turn or you have enough cards in hand to afford getting brawled. Also do note that you’re going to want to end them before they can access their big guns so feels free to play the deck aggressively and trade only when absolutely necessary (i.e: Huge tempo swings or preventing opponent lethal, etc.)

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, any low drop minions (costs 3 or less), Kor'kron Elite if you have any of the above cards

2- Dragon/Tempo Warrior: (Even) There’s not much to say really when you’re kinda playing the same deck. With Dragon Warrior you should try to trade with face as the one who outtempoes the other in the early stages of the game is most probably the one also winning the game in the long run. Same thing goes for ol’ school Tempo Warrior. Also flooding the board is safe as they don't have good ways of clearing them.

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker, Fierce Monkey, ArmorsmithSir Finley MrrggltonKor'kron Elite (to deal with their Frothing Berserker)

Against Mage:

1- Tempo Mage: (Favored) The matchup is simple to play. Remove their minions, always! Play acolyte early on on board to stop him from using the balanced flame waker. Be reminded that Armorsmith combined with whirlwind effects is very helpful in this matchup too, as you get yourself out of their reach. Kor'kron Elite is the mvp in dealing with flame waker too!

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker, ArmorsmithSir Finley MrrggltonKor'kron EliteSlam (just use this as removal even if you can't draw with it)

2- Freeze Mage: (Favored) Well it’s mage, and it’s freeze and it’s hell a lot easy! Just whatever you do, DO NOT PLAY SIR FINLEY MRGLLTON or you might just lose an easy game. Just armor up man, armor up like there’s no tomorrow. They’ll run out of burst at some point and that’s just about it. Play Cruel Taskmaster on a 4/1 if it means you get 1 armor from Armorsmith (Not really though, that’s a pretty BS play).

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker, Armorsmith, Kor'kron Elite, Ravaging Ghoul

Against Paladin:

1- N’zoth/Anyfin Paladin: (Favored) Should be a walk in the park. Keep pushing every turn by dropping the minion with highest tempo down. Try to play around their absolutely-not-absurdly-broken board cleaners meaning you shouldn’t overextend if you have enough damage on board (about three minions). Most of the time you lose against this pali is when they get that huge swing on you e.g. Wild Pyromancer+Equality+any heal cards. So keep pushing slowly but surely, don't let that happen to you!

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker, Acolyte of Pain, Kor'kron Elite

2- Bubble Paladin (The one with little 1/1 dudes and Moroes n’ stuff):(Favored) Just clean the low drops while maintaining board control. Answer their aggression with playing aggressively yourself but don’t let them take advantage of your plays. Oh and before I forget, they tend to run a Divine Favor or two, so make sure they don’t get anything of ‘em.

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker (if you have low drops or axe), Armorsmith, Fierce Monkey, Ravaging Ghoul

Against Hunter:

1- Midrange Hunter: (Favored!!1!) As claimed in the title, it's good against hunter, and is probably the first warrior deck ever not to suck when matched up with Mid Hunters. Always try to play ahead, make winning plays (if choosing to remove or be active, be active!) DON’T try to get value out of Slam. If it makes for a dead 3/2, then just use it before it goes all bloodying your face. Same goes for Blood To Ichor. Furthermore, Frothing Berserker is strong af against hunters, so remember to play it behind a taunt our a minion along side it, as to play around Deadly Shot and Freezing Trap (these two cards can single hand win games for them).

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker (if you have Sir Finley Mrrgglton), Armorsmith, Kor'kron Elite, Ravaging GhoulSir Finley Mrrgglton, Blood To Ichor

2- Secret Hunterard: (Unfavored AF) While the deck seemingly does a decent job versus old school Mid Hunters, it suffers greatly while putting up a fight against these guys. They can gain INSANE amount of tempo by the time they play Cloaked Huntress and can’t do shit about it. Also, there’s a Freezing Trap and Snipe, both of which making you suffer great tempo losses (just imagine for a second playing Grommash Hellscream into Blood To Ichor into Freezing Trap. That’s just … fucking disgusting. Or consider playing Azure Drake or Fierce Monkey of maybe even Frothing Berserker into their Snipe). Anyhow, all you can do is trying to maintain a good board advantage over your opponent and trying to tie the knots before they manage to play their Call of the Skill.

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Armorsmith, Ravaging GhoulSir Finley Mrrgglton, Slam

Against Warlock:

1- Zoolock: (Favored) They fill the board, you clean it with stuff, repeat. That’s pretty much how every warlock game goes. Just make sure you leave enough removals for their bigger minions, namely Darkshire Skillman and probable Skill Giants. Frothing Berserker is a very strong card in this match, don't let it die!

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker (if you have Sir Finley Mrrgglton), Armorsmith, Fierce Monkey, Ravaging GhoulSir Finley Mrrgglton

2- Renolock: (favored) Play it like N'zoth paladin/ anyfin paladin, also look out for Twisting Nether on turn eight.

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker (if you have Sir Finley Mrrgglton), Armorsmith, Kor'kron Elite, Sir Finley Mrrgglton

Against Drood Druid:

1- Yogg Token Druid: (Even) Honestly, this one is all about how the two of you draw. We all know that Druids do a pretty good job keep the opponents board clean while establishing their own; so it all comes down to the person who makes the has the better skill at drawing! :)

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker, Armorsmith, Kor'kron Elite, Ravaging GhoulSir Finley Mrrgglton, Execute (if you have coin and good curve)

2- Beast Druid: (Unfavored) Turn 1 Enchanted Raven into Turn 2 Mark of Y’shaarj is probably all you need to see to get you triggered enough to concede. That aside, they play a variety of high value minions and it’s next to impossible to try to win by outvaluing them, thus making this matchup one of your worst nightmares. Try to trade favorably and just pray they don’t draw really well. But one thing you can do is to flood the board and draw a shit ton, because they can't clear shit.

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker (if you have Sir Finley Mrrgglton), Armorsmith, Kor'kron Elite, Ravaging GhoulSir Finley Mrrgglton

Against priest

1- Resurrect Priest: (favored) Be ahead in early game, use Fiery War Axe or Execute to remove injured blade master and Priest of the Feast, while pushing damage to face with minions. When they ressurect their minion, it's time to go all out face because you can probably finish them before they stabilize.

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker, Kor'kron Elite, Sir Finley Mrrgglton, Cruel Taskmaster

Against Shaman:

1- Aggro Shaman: (even) They can be pretty devastating at times to be honest but you actually have a good shot at these A-holes. Try to keep your Execute and removals for the 7/7s and 5/5s while keeping their board clean of lesser threats. Establish your own board and try to gain tempo advantage. Use their overload downfall against them and uhm … watch out for Skillhammer + Rockbiter in the meantime woulda?

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, Frothing Berserker,Armorsmith, bloodto ichor, Ravaging GhoulSir Finley Mrrgglton, Bloodhoof Brave

2- Midrange Shaman: (favored) Don't rely on a single minion surviving because it won't (Hex baby), and if your board is weak to aoe, just drop down a Armorsmith or an Acolyte of Pain to make their aoe suddenly an advantage to you in other ways.

Against … Rogue?:

1- N’zoth Miracle/ Classic Miracle Rogue: (cutting butter) Just simply use your face to remove their minions and keep plying minions and pressuring their health pool. They do the same as you, but it just so happens that warriors does this better. Not much to say about this matchup.

Mulligan: Fiery War Axe, any low drops

Hero powers you need to look for with Sir Finley Mrgglton:

100% always pick mage hero power unless you don't want to win

Mage>warlock, hunter>druid, priest, shaman> paladin, rogue

(note that the all totems except 11 totem has great synergy with the deck!)
