This is a midrange control deck I've found to be good against aggro and other control decks.
It focuses on out-valuing your opponent with the dragons, keeping board control and finishing them off with the Anyfin combo. (Bluegill + Murloc Warleader)
There's no dragon late game but you could discover it with Netherspite if you wish. I found Anyfin to be more consistent than dragon late game. Dragons have really beefy high value minions that are great in midrange though so that's where I take advantage of them.
You should always have plenty of cards in your hand with netherspite, azure drake, ivory knight and the curator.
You have four value-rich taunts between the Twilight Guardians, Curator and Tirion.
There's plenty of healing in this deck with 2 Ivory Knights and Forbidden Healing. Truesilver technically heals you.
I think you'll find there's a lot of synergy with Keeper of Uldaman in removing the 3/3 or trading into the 3/3. You can even Azure Drake + Consecrate the 3/3.
I included the Equality + Consecrate combo because its needed in this meta.
Good Matchups: Destroys Tempo Mage, Secret Hunter, C'thun Warrior, Zoo, Reno Zoo, Resurrect Priest, Miracle Rouge (to name a few),
Harder Matchups: Lucky aggro warriors, lucky aggro Shaman, lucky malygos Druid. ...Who can beat those tbh.
I've got a 72% win rate so far, which I think is pretty good for a control deck in this meta so I figured I'd share.
GLHF :D
This deck looks really fun. It combines my two favorite paladin decks: anyfin and dragon. Will definitely try when I get home.
This deck is wildy inconsistent. I usually found myself with Netherspite Historians and Blackwing Corruptors without dragons in hand and with no cards to play before turn 3. This decks gets punished by faster decks (almost all the decks I faced). It looks like a cool concept, but I have trouble winning with these inconsistencies.
Yeah, meta so lame. :/ If the fast decks don't draw well, it does all right. This isn't a tier 1 deck for sure though! Anyone not playing midrange shaman, tempo mage or zoo will have games like this.
Anyways thanks a ton for checking out the deck!
Cheers :D
Hello! What do you think about wild pyro in this deck?
Not strong early game material but great for activating equality. Not sure what to replace, let me know what works for you!
- 1 Historian, -1 Uldaman, +2 Pyro.
Hey man. Really solid deck. I'm 15-2 with it and I can't see stopping anytime soon. It almost makes me feel like playing pre-secrets midrange paladin where the game starts on turn 4 and you can crush people with your utilities. Thanks for the deck!
Glad you like! Yeah it's a bit greedy but there seems to be enough tools to deal with opponents who aren't ridiculously lucky. Just wade through the bs, get the combo out and finish em off. :D
Thank you for the input man! ...I can see how this is bad, but Anyfin is how you win with this deck. Its a very powerful game winning combo. I've dealt 20+ damage with it many many times after you set all the murlocs down. You really only need 1 Murloc warleader and two bluegills to die to use it the first time. After that you play it again and win the game with 24 damage.
Other than that, the murlocs are just there to trade. The Bluegill is there to remove all the 3/2's and to assist in removing other things on the cheap while building your win condition.
You'll notice a lot of 3's in this deck and the warleader is there just to trade with them.
You could also combo them to deal an immediate 4 damage to a minion or just establish board presence for 5 mana. (bluegill + warleader)
Its especially entertaining when your opponent is running this combo and you play anyfin. You get their stuff and end up having 30+ damage on board.
What card would you suggest removing to add in another Blackwing Technician, and/or Brann Bronzebeard?
Hey man! Thanks for the comment.
Removing any dragons would make activating the synergistic cards difficult since you don't 100% of the time have a dragon in your hand. (probably ~75%+) For this reason we have to be really careful with that.
I don't really want to remove any heal with all the aggro in meta right now.
As for Blackwing Technician I'd say get rid of a Keeper. Keepers are pretty much always good because they will survive trade with anything they 3/3, but still I think this could possibly the best suggestion so far, so thanks!
As for Brann, I'm not sure. I'm thinking Drake makes since we don't utilize spell damage to a large degree and we always have plenty of cards in hand.
how do you feel about replacing the one Blackwing Technician with Brann Bronzebeard ?
Positive synergies: Netherspite Historian, Twilight Guardian, Azure Drake, Blackwing Corruptor, Ivory Knight, Curator
These are all card draw/discover. I think the extra heal from ivory knight, extra damage from corruptor and +1 attack for twilight would be great, but since I often have a ton of cards in my hand with this deck, could be a bit overkill / fatiguing. Please give it a try and let me know how it goes.
Thanks for commenting / your input. :D
Brann is musthave in the deck with Historians and Ivory Knight. But i think Historians is too greedy for anyfin deck.
I also do not see aldors, best 3 drop in the game.
The deck is a bit greedy! Truesilver really has to pull its weight early game. ...It's got a 72% winrate right now for me though.
Hey dude, thanks for the comment! It's pretty hard to replace that card's utility. It baits out some strong removal, puts a big taunt on the board for aggro AND gives you a weapon. To be honest if I were to remove tirion I'd just add either a Nightbane Templar or Blackwing Technician to flush out the early game a bit more. - which this deck could definitely improve upon. A Doomsayer would also be a worthy addition.
What would you remove for ragnaros, light lord? I feel like it's a very strong card, and would like to have it in this too... Maybe remove a Blackwing Technician ? :)
I can see that being a good change, but I'd argue that this deck lacks early game. I also think we have a fair amount of heal already. I'd try it myself but I don't have Lightlord. If you could give it a go and let me know how it is I'd consider changing it!
Thanks a ton for your feedback dude!
I removed forbidden healing to put ragnaros, lets see how it works ;)
Perhaps a keeper of uldamin or a netherspite historian? It sucks to remove these, so perhaps even the curator since they are similar mana curve and also we have tirion. The heal and body could out value the draw.
