A new season, a new midrange secret hunter deck!
In this version Vlps drops drakes/curator/call of the wild/bear trap/2nd snipe for horseriders/kill commands/kindly grandmothers/2nd tracking. He piloted the deck in a shaman-heavy meta to top 100 legend.
This is not an all-out face deck, but it's close. Make trades when necessary. We have 2 Savannah Highmane plus Ragnaros the Firelord for damage in the mid-to-late game. However, you often need to be aggressive in hopes of closing the game around turn 8.
Give the latest iteration of secret hunter a try, and good luck in season 32!
Due to the meta, the key matchup is with Shaman. This is why we want to be aggressive while maintaining some midgame power to push to victory. Keep in mind we expect board clears. Since we know Maelstrom Portal is coming, don't be too eager to trade in your 1/1 Kindly Grandmother. Let his AOE make you stronger.
Mulligan for: Secretkeeper, Cloaked Huntress, Eaglehorn Bow. Keep secrets only if you have at least one of those and it fits the current matchup. The dream start is T1 keeper, T2 coin + huntress + secrets, T3 bow.
Other starter cards: Can keep Animal Companion if you have two of the starter cards. Can keep Quick Shot for matchups where quick removal is helpful (druid, mage, priest, shaman, warrior). Can keep Kindly Grandmother with coin but I prefer to dig for the main cards.
I will add to the guide as I have more time to play test the deck and compare it to previous secret hunter lists and the current meta.
Here's a game play video from Khristophesaurus so you can see the deck in action:
For the previous highly popular secret hunter deck list from Vlps, see: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/639616-vlpss-curator-secret-hunter-legend
For the meta-ruling shaman deck I took to legend in season 31, see: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/525655-top-totems-legend
What really helps in the shaman matchup ive found is that its really helpful to mulligan kinda hard for freezing trap and snipe
Yes, that works really well against Totem Golem. A bit of a waste against Tunnel Trogg perhaps.
really powerful deck. just ended heroic tavern brawl with 10 wins :)
Ten opponents so far, all were crushed badly. The last so badly I received zero damage. The closest game was one running the same deck. Very happy with it so far!
BESTEST DECK EVER SMOrc !
Thanks for sharing the video! What do you use to record your games?
FYI traps go off in the order you play them. That's why explosive went before freezing.
NP! I use OBS for stream and it saves the stream to a file :D ! Yeah I knew that I was just like FeelsBadMan we didn't draw Freezing first :L !
You could try a 2nd Snipe plus 1 Bear Trap, or 2 x Unleash the Hounds, or 2 x Infested Wolf. I fear the wolves are too slow, but unleash can't bypass taunts, and Snipe doesn't deal with existing minions so... pick your poison.
Sylvanas + N'zoth
Those cards are too slow for this deck. Game should be over before turn 10. This is a midrange deck that leans more toward aggro than control. If we were planning to stick around for turn 9 consistently, we would run a copy of Call of the Wild so that should tell you something about the strategy for this deck list.
Livin' the dream! ;)
Hey can you make a full guide
Thank you
The priority is face, but unlike a strict face deck, you are free to trade for value or if you think you can push more damage in future turns because of the trade.
