** Combo is now broken due to Patches nerf :( [though it was necessary] **
Patches the Pirate is awesome and has big-time potential. Mix in a Southsea Captain buffed Skycap'n Kragg (5/7 charge Doomguard) and you have some serious OTK potential.
This is an adaption of an aggro/deathrattle rogue I fiddle around with that uses Unearthed Raptor for drawing and sustaining the early game. You don't want to play a pirate until you can safely Gang Up Patches the Pirate in the same turn. Generally, you may want to toss away Southsea Deckhand and/or Swashburglar in the mulligan.
MULLIGAN
Mulligan for Argent Squire, Loot Hoarder, Undercity Huckster, Unearthed Raptor with coin if holding a Hoarder or Huckster, SI:7 Agent with coin.
PLAYSTYLE
Control the early board with your mix of early drop minions, Backstabs, SI:7 Agent combo, hero power, etc. If you need card draw, it's okay to Gang Up a Loot Hoarder or Shadowstep a Coldlight Oracle.
After having used Gang Up on Patches, your combo ability becomes impressive.
Combo with Gang Up once on Patches:
Southsea Captain draws 3 Patches ---> Skycap'n Kragg now 3 mana ---> Shadowstep Kragg ---> Skycap'n Kragg now 1 mana ---> Cold Blood x2 for a total of 9 mana and combo potential of 6 (buffed Patches x3) + 10 (buffed Kragg x2) + 8 (Cold Blood x2) = 24 damage
Combo with Gang Up twice on Patches:
Southsea Captain draws 6 Patches ---> save one Backstab to suicide a Patches after you smorc him to make room for Skycap'n Kragg now 1 mana (you may also just suicide one into a minion if you have to) ---> Shadowstep Kragg ---> Skycap'n Kragg now 0 mana ---> Cold Blood x2 ---> Eviscerate x2 for a total of 10 mana and combo potential of 12 (buffed Patches x6) + 10 (buffed Kragg x2) + 8 (Cold Blood x2) + 8 (Eviscerate x2) = 36-38 damage
The second combo is probably overkill and who knows how well this will work, but seems like fun to me.... yarrrrrr!
There's really no need for Preparation here, all spells are already super cheap. Shiv might be a better pick.
The reason I included it is in case you're stuck with a 1-mana pirate in your opening hand or Patches himself. If you don't have access to Shadowstep it allows you to Gang Up on Patches for free and prevent you from stalling with nothing to do in the early game just because you don't want to waste your Patches. Prep also allows you to Gang Up earlier and accelerate the OTK process for your Southsea Captain, but it could certainly be replaced in this deck. Shiv or Fan of Knives would be suitable if you desire more cycle.
So similar to my deck... at least mention it http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/668967-26-dmg-miracle-patches-the-pirate
My deck isn't a stalling/draw your OTK pieces deck so it's not really similar and plays much more aggressively. It is based it off this deck (which is mine): http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/560844-pirate-burst-raptor-rogue-fast-rank-5 and I adapted it to make Patches function either as OTK or a strong finisher.
Also, I created this on November 8 and yours was created November 14..... yet you want me to edit my write-up to mention yours which you made nearly a week after mine? Weird request.
Ok i regret
I suggest putting in a Swashburglar as a cheap way to pull out Patches without having to waste one of your southsea deckhands.
