Remember when we all thought, beast druid would be the next cookie cutter ladder deck once karazhan came out? Menagerie Warden looked so ultra-strong on paper. Well, it did not come to that. Beast druid became tier 3 because of zero comback potential once the board was lost.
Nevertheless, I really like the deck archetype and wanted to make it work for me. I tried many lists and the one from Theory was by far the best I encountered: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/652086-legend-2-theory-beast-druid . No Azure Drakes but just Deathwing instead --> really smart move.
At least for my playstyle I had to make some adaptions. I put Savage Roar out. Yeah, sometimes you miss the burst. But most of the time this card lay clunkily in my hand when I rather wanted to play a minion. So i put Fandral Staghelm back in, also because it is simply a really cool card. So with Fandral in, I also replaced Mounted Raptor with Power of the Wild to have more synergies.
The cool thing about this deck is that is has multiple win conditions, depending on how the match unfolds:
- If you win the early game with your 1-3 mana cards, you have a good chance to snowball to an easy win as your midgame follow-up is probably the strongest in the game.
- Highrolling with Fandral alone can win you games.
- If your opponent manages to throw you off the board, you rely on Deathwing's cataclysmic power. But try to play him only after you have seen a good amount of hard removal and taunts from your opponent.
In the comments there was the demand for a legend poof. I mostly play Hearthstone on my tablet so I am not too big on screenshots. But I took a photo so there you go:
I decided to give it a go and went 9-1 in my 10 game trial playing vs warlock zoo, shaman, control warrior (the hardest matchup I find.) I highly recommend this deck for others as it is easy to pilot and somewhat of a curvestone deck. If I have 1 tip it is don't wait too long to get value from Menagerie Warden. This is a tempo deck and should be played like one!
And if i have not Deathwing × 1 can i rake Barron Gedon?
Deathwing is definitely nice for clearing the beefier boards than come up with cards like Thing from Below & Fire Elemental being run so frequently.
Barron was better suited for fighting of aggro shaman & zoo
Can u say what raplacement of Fandral Staghelm
Cool deck but a bit pricy! I'm personally hoping for some more beast synergy later on. I'm getting real tired of malydruid.
Well, we got our beast druid card today and it's a much worse version of Menagerie Magician FeelsBadMan
