Hey Guys,

I enjoy the control warlock archetype, and I wanted to try something a little different than Renolock. I believe this is a very strong deck in the meta right now, as it can deal with aggro and beats a lot of control classes as well.

Mulligan:

You will always want to keep Mistress of MixturesTwilight DrakeDark Peddler, and Doomsayer

Against Aggro: You will want to get some early removal. Mortal Coil and Hellfire are great for this.

Against Control: Mountain Giant can be a very devastating card. It forces them to deal with it immediately. You can also keep Faceless Shambler for huge value plays.

General Strategy:

Usually in the first 2-4 turns of the game you will be playing very passively. If you have Mistress of Mixtures, you should always play it against aggro. Life Tap on turn 2 and 3 is normal. On turn 4, you aim to play Twilight Drake and Mountain Giant. If you have the coin against aggro, coining out a Twilight Drake is quite strong. From there, you aim to make favorable trades and maintain board control. With this deck, you will want to use Life Tap as much as possible. The win condition in the deck is Leeroy Jenkins with 2 Power Overwhelming and Faceless Manipulator. The full combo is 12 mana total, so avoid using Emperor Thaurissan until you have at least 2 combo pieces in hand.

Matchups:

Pirate Warrior (Favored): This matchup is very strong. Due to the plethora of healing, taunts, board clears, and high value minions, they usually can't get you down to lethal. Mistress slows them down and gives you heal at the start. Usually after playing a Drake/Giant, you give it taunt or use Faceless Shambler for a high health taunt. From there, you can easily outvalue them and win.

Renolock (Slightly Favored): Due to not running Reno, you gain consistency, in favor of losing cards like Reno (obviously) and Kazakus. But this also means you gain some more things like board clears. This matchup is generally based off the value game/who can pull off the Leeroy Faceless combo first. It helps that the burst output is much higher, so you can play much more defensively.

Aggro Shaman (Slightly Unfavored): Aggro Shaman has lots of early game power, from Small-Time Buccaneer to Tunnel Trogg. What makes this matchup slightly unfavored is that Shaman has lots of burst damage with things like Doomhammer and Rockbiter Weapon or lots more burn spells, which ignore taunt. However, if you can survive the initial onslaught, outvaluing your opponent and continuous taunts+ heals wins you the game.

Dragon Priest (Favored): Twilight Drake is the card that makes this matchup very strong. With lots of lists cutting Entomb, Priest has no efficient ways to deal with this card. With high health and no card to simply remove it, Twilight Drake can make huge positive trades and swing the board to your favor. The 28 damage burst means we simply need 2 damage on the opponent to win the game.

Jade Druid (Unfavored): With Jade Druid having the ability to snowball the board very quickly, and having access to various taunts, makes this a very tough matchup. Again, the fact that this deck has huge burst means you do not need too much damage on your opponent to bring him down to lethal range. Stall the game till you can use Emperor Thaurissan and remove his taunts. From there, you can use Leeroy to finish off the game.

Pirate/Miracle Rogue (Very Unfavored): Rogue has gained early game, with the Pirates package, and lots of burst damage. It has various ways to achieve face damage, and lots of spells which can finish you off. Your hope is to be the aggressor, and kill them first. Try to dig for cards like Leeroy and Power Overwhelming, and burst them down very quickly.

Final Thoughts:

Hope you guys give the deck a try! Does really well in this meta, due to the amount of aggro there is.

If the meta slows down, feel free to include Lord Jaraxxus. It aids the matchups versus all control decks, but is unfortunately too slow in this aggro based meta.

P.S., If you enjoyed this guide, please give it an up vote!

P.P.S., Let me know how i did if you could, this is my first large write-up for a deck
