Hey, i made a reddit post a couple of days ago after i reached Legend with this deck: https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/5kepk8/got_legend_with_self_brewd_demon_warlock_deck/
And since a lot of you guys asked for it, i decided to make a quick guide about it with strategy and mulligan options and matchups. So...let's get started:
Strategy and Mulligan:
The goal is to set up an early lead with 1 drop demons and try to combo them with your buff cards or discard mechanics (with malchezar's imp and tiny knight of evil) and get a snowball going by outpacing and out tempoing your opponent with bigger and bigger demons.
As for mulligan, there are a lot of different options here but you almost always want to get early board presence with the amount of 1 drop demons you have. Keep as much of them as you can early on to ensure that at least one of your demons stick by turn 2 or 3 so you can buff them with demonfire or bloodfury potion. You should consider keeping any discardble card you can find as well (Golems and/or Fist of Jarraxus) because you'll eventually discard them and get a lead that way.
Matchups:
Shaman - look for soulfire to counter totem golem or 1 drop demon + bloofury potion if you have the coin. it totally screws them up because most likely they'r going to totem up the following turn leaving you with an opening to snowball from there. Always be aware of lightning storm and malestorm portal (Crystalweaver is key in this)
Warrior - keep soulfire and any discardble cards you can get your hands on. several 1 drops early is a good way to get them to trade instead of them mindlessly smorc you. A buffed voidwalker wins you the game almost automatically (keeping demonfire for the buccaneer isn't a bad idea either)
Druid - curve out and you should be fine. Innervate is your worst enemy. Try to apply a lot of pressure early so that they have to spend all their mana on removal and don't develop the board.
Card Choice:
Pitlord: The million dollar question, "why the fuck would you pic Pitlord over anything else?" Well, being a warlock fan-boy, i've experimented a lot and did a lot of testing with every single warlock card to see what could make the cut. Pitlord caught me by surprise, as it did many of you, but the more i thought about it, the more it made sense. The reason behind it was because of the whole concept of demons: you put big minions ahead of their curve but with some kind of trade-off, either by discarding or taking a chunk out of your life total. I think that's the logic behind the hearthstone dev team and why they made demons the way they are. Pitlord is a fantastic minion (stat wise) for only 4 mana. The trade off being that you pay 5 health to play it. But it's totally worth it. The deck revolves around playing early minions, like flame imp, void walker, malchezar's imp, succubus (at some extent), imp gang boss and then buffing them up with demonfire and bloodfury potion. Meaning, you get a lead early and you snowball the game after that so that your opponent can't react to anything you do while you push your way to victory. Pitlord comes as a tempo play against your opponent. On turn 3/4 they are preparing to deal with your board but then you drop this huge-ass demon on the board. Take a mage for example...on turn 4, they either frostbold-ping-trade against your board, or they have to deal with your Pitlord and fireball it, leaving your board intact to get buffed the next turn (or you play a doomguard and they have to fireball+ping/polymorph, wich they already used on your Pitlord and don't have the mana to do so)
Replacements:
Darkshire Counsilman
Felguard
Demonwrath
Note: Updating the guide whenever i have a spare time! Thanks for all the replies :)
2 Pit Lords? You're a mad man!
I tried felguard as well and it got sapped twice
that moment when a priest plays the rat taunt and it pulls out of my hand pit lord on turn 2 :D
Look at the first (oldest) page of comments for his thoughts on this.
This deck quite fast like aggro, the very positive from this deck is enemy might think you are renolock, so they won't keep their AOE against you, and then we can just summon everything lol
This is my game play with music vs OTK priest, and this is quite fast win, there is no resistance lol
-2 Pitlord, +1 Demonwrath +1 Bane of doom for vs Aggro or +2 PO for faster win because i don't think Pitlord is good

Deck is pretty fun, extremely strong on ladder right now, and i got some footage of the deck destroying pirate warrior which is very fun :P
Good video and sampling of matchups. Thanks. The RNG is strong in you. 😉
Your noise cancelling hurts my head. Maybe lower the threshold before it kicks in...?
Yeah dude that's completely fine you can include my video in the guide thats not a problem :D
thanks a lot for everything mate!!
Good deck, fits my playstyle very well. Obviously needs more testing but I went from Rank 18 to 14 in like an hour.
Violet Illusionist any thoughts on this? With Pit Lord and Flame Imp as well as the warlock hero power lots of damage coming at yourself on your turn... also works as a sort of pseudo taunt
violet ill. has very low value for aggro decks. the card you are replacing from the deck probably brings more value to early game.
Swapped Pit Lords out for a Blast Crystal Potion and a Kabal Trafficker. I feel as though there was just way too much self-inflicted pain in this to allow it to continue into the mid game against heavier control decks or to stay afloat versus aggro.
I replaced tiny knight of evil with 2 oozes because i just got bodied by pirate warrior
if you went 3/15 at rank 18 then you are clearly terrible
umm how do u beat the jaina the clear godess
Although two pit lords and two flame imps make my head hurt for 16 damage, this is kind of a cool deck. The only thing makes me worried is I have so many hard times against aggro decks. I haven't got any problem against control or tempo decks. 16 damage is a lot, so i mostly pray for discarding pit lords when i play succubus or soulfire
I hate aggro kind of decks but i really like this deck. I love demon synergy so much and with that brand new Crystalweaver card, demon synergy can become a thing.
Also, I have a question for you. For wild, which cards should be replaced for Voidcaller and Imp-losion? I am thinking replacing pit lords to Voidcallers but in the other hands if Voidcaller can summon a Pit Lord, that would be huge. Maybe changing the discard synergy to more demons?
I think for wild you can replace Fist of Jaraxxus and Pit Lord for Imp-Losion and Voidcaller. Voidcaller is a good replacement for Pit Lord as it also serves as a huge board maintaining tool, especially if you can drop succubus, imp gang boss or doomguard when they kill it, if they actually do that. Imp-losion is just a great all-around card (albeit random), putting 2 to 4 demons on board to be buffed, forcing enemy AoE if they have any. If you want, you might be able to replace Tiny Knight of Evil for Darkshire Councilman, as the card benefits a lot from generated imps. I wouldn't increase the curve for wild, as the decks there are highly agressive with pirates and ship's cannon.
Voidcaller and Imp-losion are Wild cards.
That deck is pretty cool. Shame, I don't have that much of dust to build it. I will definitely consider to build something like that, though. Because fully demons+control deck is an archetype that I can play for months.
As much as I like Pit Lord, I found myself dying a little too quickly. I'm now testing out Mistress of Mixtures in place of Dark Peddler and I think I like it a little bit more. It provides the same stats as Dark Peddler at a cheaper cost, reduces the negative impact from Pit Lord, and also allows you to use your hero power more. Since Dark Peddler isn't a demon, we aren't affecting the synergy with the buff cards.
