Are YOU tired of aggro decks? Have you been looking for your next deck to help you stomp the meta? Well look no further!
Hello! I'm a 9x Legend HS player coming back from a 3 month break to the game. I came back hoping to find new and exciting decks but I've unfortunately only been met with soul-crushing aggro decks. Warrior has always been one of my favorite classes, but the direction that control warrior has taken didn't feel like it was performing well enough against the aggressive meta, same for Patron.
This deck runs to control the early game with cards like Blood to Ichor, Whirlwind, Ravaging Ghoul, and FWA. From there, the decks strong midrange is often enough to take games. I've had very favorable results against the meta's current top contenders: Aggro Sham, Pirate Warr, Pirate Miracle Rogue, Reno Lock, Reno Mage, and even Dragon Priest.
Now.. to talk about the secret shining star of MSoG: Grimy Gadgeteer. This card has been my favorite new release by far. It screamed tempo to me. You might think that the effect is too slow for tempo warrior, but the tempo advantage it gives you in later momentum swings is HUGE. Simply one turn from it is already great; anymore and it's pretty unfair. You would think the 4/3 stat would make it difficult to keep alive but it isn't at all under protection of weapons and taunts. Even then, it's a high-priority kill target and if your opponent doesn't have the direct 3 damage to kill it, its snowball potential is out of this world. Forcing awkward trades gives tempo warrior the advantage!
The midrange consists of Grimy Gadgeteers, Bloodhoof Braves, Fierce Monkeys, and a Frothing Berserker. From there, cards like Cairne, Malkorok, Grom, Rag, and Varian serve as strong finishers, ESPECIALLY with Gadgeteer buffs. Varian gets crazy value with Cairne/Rag and can often bring taunt walls with Monkeys and Braves.
Keeping a strong controlling board presence while maintaining adequate card count is also key. The more control decks out there won't have enough board clear if you spread out your threats well. Getting value from Acolyte, Slam, and Battle Rage is important as they are your only forms of card draw.
The rest of the cards are pretty timeless to Tempo Warrior. I started playing this deck around rank 14 yesterday and made it to rank 4. I plan to get legend before the season ends.
Mulligan:
- Aggro Shaman/Warr/Rogue: Ravaging Ghoul, FWA, Blood to Ichor, Fierce Monkey, Frothing, Bloodhoof Brave(with coin)
- Tempo Mage/Lock & Dragon Priest: Grimy Gadgeteer, Fierce Monkey, Frothing, FWA
If anyone has any questions, feel free to add me and ask! itzchang#1773
Frothing is still a consideration. Maybe one-off Frothing for one Acolyte would be fine.
Made a similar deck, more in taunts direction.
i like this! I'll give it a try
This deck works really well against aggro shaman. You have to have a decent opening like blood of ichor, FWA, whirlwind, execute and so on. But to be honest i am currently only at rank 12 with this deck. So maybe after rank 10 it will be a lot harder to use. I am still having fun, trying to reach legend on a monthly base is just insane. It draws the fun out of the game.
Hey buddy,
I tried out your deck today, unfortunately I was used paired against Shaman after Shaman. The matchup is not that great for the deck, so I ended up with a negative score. How is your winrate against other decks?

Add me on battle.net, I'd like to see how you guys play it and would love to show you how I do! itzdchang#1773
I'm currently playing it at rank 4 5 star! I plan to get legend before the end of the season. As for Thaurissan, I could see him being played instead of Cairne for solid value but Cairne's stickyness has high value as well.
Sylv would be a great sub for Cairne! As for Varian, I'm not really sure. He's such a force on turn 10 I can't really imagine anything that suits the same purpose.. Deathwing maybe? But then it may as well be Dragon warrior I guess
Is there any substitute for Malkorok that works well? And why did you choose Fierce Monkey over Alley Armorsmith? Alley Armorsmith has so much value against all the aggro decks.
I've had a lot of success with Malkorok but you could try Baron Geddon or Don Han'Cho. I tried Alley Armorsmith and didn't feel like the deck needed the armor gain; the 3 drop taunt is incredibly strong against aggro.
