[About me]

Spaniard who started Hearthstone at Beta. Now I only play when new cards are released (the game/meta is more interesting). Got 4x top 100 ladder finishes, including last season.

This is my second deck guide. The first one got an insane amount of views and likes and was featured in the main page of this website, so I hope you can find this one interesting and useful as well.

[About the deck]

In the last days of the season a slow version of Jade Shaman was the most played and successful deck at high ranks. Since Renolock seemed to be a good meta call, everybody started to play it in order to counter Shaman. So I wanted to build a version that could have a decent edge against the mirror and still be good at dealing with the Jade Army. That’s the logic behind the card choices, but I could try to go deeper and explain a little bit each card selection.

[Leeroy package or Jaraxxus?]

Both. Due to the Jade mechanic Jaraxxus is no longer a guarantee of winning the long and value-oriented game. I like to have access to the burst in a meta where mirror and Jade are the most played decks because otherwise the games are decided by the order each player draws their key cards. For example, if my opponent plays an early Jaraxxus and I do not have mine I simply can’t win, the only effect that my deck can provide is delaying the defeat.

[Dark Peddler or Cabal Courier?]

I think that Dark Peddler gives useless card way too much. In comparison, Cabal Courier offers more powerful and game-deciding cards, and costing one more mana is not that relevant. Wasting a Brann on her is a fair decision most of the time, while Dark Peddler usually offers you poor choices and does not justify to expose your Brann to death without getting any value from him.

[Demonwrath or Shadowflame?]

This is as simply as Demonwrath does not kill anything nowadays except the early Pirates. You usually use it with another removal/trade to play it as a “3 mana do 2 damage”. Shadowflame performs better at cleaning Jades or doing board swings.

[Imp Gang Boss or Mind Control Tech?]

Imp Gang Boss is a great card that became vanilla nowadays. He is nearly of irrelevant a lot of the times. Mind Control Tech has the same problem, he is a vanilla guy but at least offers an unique and game-deciding effect. I don’t see much difference between playing a 3/3 and a 2/4 as tempo against aggro, but stealing a Thing from Below or a Flametongue Totem when you are behind is more interesting for a Control deck purposes.

[Blastcrystal Potion, Corruption or Big Game Hunter?]

All of this three cards aim to the same purpose: dealing with big minions. I simply chose BGH because I value higher having a guy on board at the moment. Also remember that the 7/7 are not the rule now in Shaman. This costs one more than the Potion, but does not break the Crystal. To make a long story short: this guy is in the middle of Corruption and Potion in the pros and cons balance.

[Twisting Nether or Fellfire Potion?]

Fellfire Potion does the same effect most of the time, and allows you to make a Sweep + Play turn. Twisting sweeps without asking questions but buys your entire turn. Also the 5 dmg to the opponent are relevant to making bursts out of nowhere in this list.
