It is not "obviously" better than Kezan. Which is better is debatable, but I think the majority opinion is that Kezan is a bit stronger. Kezan is much better against Mage, and unlike this card it's not a dramatic loss of tempo if you have to play it without activating the text. An anti-Secret tech card that is downright awful any time your opponent doesn't have a Secret in play is MUCH harder to justify including than an anti-Secret tech card that is only kind of bad as a vanilla body.
even worse than kezan
You know what? Not really. Sure, Kezan has higher stats- 7 vs 6, but this has 4 health- which means it's more likely to survive and be able to be buffed- plus if its effect goes off, it can become a big problem for your opponent really quick. The fact that it destroys ALL secrets, makes it a more thorough solution to Secret Paladin, and gets rid of lots of value for Freeze Mage.
i think it would be better if it was 2/2 and get +1 +1
i think if even it doesnt get +1 +1 , it is still good 2/2 for 4 mana
you know u are destroying enemy's secrets, this effect is so destructive
The thing is, even without Avenge, Secret Paladin could still be quite powerful even in standard. That's what this guy's for. Plus, he will completely kill secret pala in wild mode.
I mean, its not terrible to just drop it as a 2/4. If it was a 4/2, then it would be awful. I like that it stops Freeze Mage from playing solitaire
this will be played like Big Game hunter not all decks have huge minions, or like Mind control tech where you have to have 4 minions on the board to to take control of 1.
Who am I? The guy who's gonna save you from Secret Pally meta!
FANTASTIC tech card against the very popular "freeze mage", even if it removes 1 spell, it is a 3-5 for 4 mana that just removed a secret. Pretty darn good
Except Wild, this card is useless... Secret pala was already dead in Standard, this card is not worth vs freeze mage only... it's also out of tempo vs hunters. Too little too late.
You don't know that. You don't know what early game and secrets the three expansions and adventures of the year of the Kraken will bring.
So no, it wasn't already dead. Only the current version was, but there was a chance it could come back updated with new cards, and the Eater of Secrets is making sure it doesn't.
Unless they pull an Avenge 2.0 (which they won't, the main point of the expansion is to avoid broken OP cards like Nax and GvG) Secret pala will no be relevant anymore.
I'm talking about the actual situation, you are assuming some shit you know nothing about.
You're the one assuming things. You're assuming we already know the content of every card from WOG and the two next sets. We don't. You're talking about the "actual situation" before even knowing every card from WOG.
Of course, Secret Paladin, as we know it, is dead in Standard because it needs Naxx and GvG, but without Eater of Secrets, there were no reason to believe it couldn't reappear some days, the same way Miracle Rogue reappeared many times, the same way Grim Patron Warrior survived the Warsong nerf.
And of course they will avoid making broken cards, but avenge itself isn't broken. Avenge alone is perfectly okay. it's having 5 secrets and a 6/6 thrown all at once which is broken. So they might be thinking "Hey, avenge is out of standard, we can make a new good paladin secret, we even have Eater of Secrets to keep the Mysterious Challenger under control".
You absolutely don't know they won't do that. You're assuming things.
"I am sorry."
Too little too late imo.
Well Secret Paladin has become less popular in the meta right now. It's now a point where their just isn't enough secret pallys or freeze mages out there to give reason to include the card in a deck. Obviously I don't know how the meta will change with the WoG release, but this card would have been much more useful if released during say LoE when secret paladin still had a great presence.
