This deck is a nice tempo deck I built today in preparation for the first day of release! Also, Cabalist's Tome is just sheer fun. I have fallen in love with this card.
The main advantage I feel this deck has that mage hasn't necessarily had before is good solid 3 drops. In this case we have Twilight Elder which is not only a solid 3 drop but also buffs one of our win conditions. This deck also seems to have a fast pace to it compared to the other decks I've been playing against.
You really seem to outpace the opponent not only with C'Thun buffing but also punishing them if they have no answers to all the damage available.
Hope you all like! It's a really fun deck to play with the addition of the expansion being released today.
Win Conditions
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End is in the deck for obvious reasons. It is FUN! I've won many games I should have lost with it. Plus this tempo style blends nicely with the Yogg finisher because of all the spell synergy.
**(With some hilarity I have experienced, it is worth noting that Yogg can either be great or lose you the game. With that said, I usually use Yogg as a last resort. I find that sometimes I'll actually win games that I was not suppose to with Yogg.
C'Thun is another win condition as all your minions are buffing him through until the late game when he's played.
Lastly we have Archmage Antonidas. I was on the fence about having yet another win condition in this deck but he already seems to synergize well with the style of deck so I couldn't leave him out.
Note
Cabalist's Tome I have found is absolutely amazing! It has such synergy with Yogg-Saron, Hope's End and Archmage Antonidas. Not to mention it is incredibly fun to play! May the RNG ever be in your favor! :)
Water Elemental was cut because it wasn't a good fit.
my version
-archmage +2nd elder dont have archmage ^^
-thaurisan +faceless summoner
I really like faceless, nice change!
That's a good idea. I actually removed the Water Elemental because it just didn't fit.
There are lots of one-offs in this deck. Might want to try and squeeze in Reno Jackson?
I actually like the sound of that. I might experiment with that and if I find good results I'll post it as well. Thanks!
Replacement for Archmage Antonidas
Emperor Thaurissan
Won 5 games, lost 2.
One of the games I lost, I played Yogg-Saron with 3 enemy minions and an empty board on my side. I ended up star firing myself, and killing yogg after 3 spells it cast on itself. Ugh!
Good deck!
Thanks! :) I made some changes to it. Skeram Cultist I found lacking a bit so I made a few changes. Disciple of C'Thun is really good I found.
