Deck was used in my First Place finish in Void E'sport Tourneo #1
To answer a couple of the questions I received in the comment section. First, why do I run 2 crazed alchemist? The most obvious reasons are to kill doomsayers in control decks and killing shaman totems but the applications of the card are almost limitless here are a few examples.
-Swapping Councilman, you can use your crazed alchemist to potentially swap a councilman that has reached a high attack stat but is low on hp (lets say you swap it from a 6-1) you have now given your councilman a huge hp pool a new lease on life and its HP will continue to grow.
-Making buffs permanent, when you use crazed alchemist on a minion with a temporary buff in the case of this deck that will be dire wolf alpha and abusive sergeant. In the most simple example you can use abusive to buff a knife juggler attack in for 4 damage and then use alchemist on the juggler to make it a 2/4 permanently. (this can be combined with brann for some very rare super advanced plays lol)
-High HP low attack minions, you can get a lot of value by swapping around a minion that has a lot of hp but low attack and get massive value even if the minion doesn't have 0 attack. For example swapping a bloodhoof brave and then taking it out with a 2 attack minion or swapping a ysera and then hitting it with soulfire.
The second question is why do I run Brann Bronzebeard? The way I see it he is decent stat wise for the mana cost and since his ability can threaten to generate a ton of value that gives him a pseudo taunt. Brann also works with quite a few cards in the deck (also doesn't work with a few but I believe its still worth it) To list the cards which work with Brann (should be pretty obvious) 2x abusive sergeant, 2x dark peddler, 2x defender of argus, gormok the impaler, as well as the alchemist. Brann does not work well with flame imp, or leeroy jenkins but this rarely ever comes into play in a meaningful way. The crazed alchemist can be a nombo with brann but occasionally it can be a nifty play if you consider example 1 for why I run the 2 crazed alchemist you can get a double permanent buff with brann+alchemist+dire wolf/ abusive. So basically if you are not comfortable playing this on a situation by situation basis trying playing something a little more vanilla as brann isnt TOO integral to the deck strategy but he can give you some potential reach,
I really need to watch videos on these zoo decks getting to legend. I flat out smash these decks on ladder with the greatest of ease & when I bother to run one, the exact same happens to me. The second your opponent establishes board dominance or wipes out the many low health minions these decks runs & it's GG. Heck, sometimes they can have the board & I can end up winning with spell/burst damage right out of my hand. It has to be the times &/or region that this deck is being played for it to be this successful.
Zoo decks are also more difficult to play than they may appear, I have been playing zoo for quite a while now.
Why not doomguard? This is an aggro/zoo meta, and Doomguard is better than Leroy in this meta. There are 3 main reasons why Doomguard is better than Leroy.
1:) Flexibility; The way Leroy Jenkins was designed was for a burst finisher, but the Doomguard is a 5/7 that can be used as a finisher or it can be used to kill bigger minions with it's 7 health.
2:) Tempo; The 2 card discard shouldn't bother you because in matchups where you need it for a non-finisher minion, then you should be trying to keep up with your opponent's tempo, and being low on cards is a common thing.
3:) Burst: Despite the fact that Leroy has 6 damage, If played on an empty board, and he survives the minion deals 6 damage and dies to his Welps. But the Doomguard if played on an empty board, doesn't have to be a finisher, and doesn't have a 100% chance of dying the next turn.
My reason for not playing doomguard mostly comes down to the fact that you have to discard 2 cards which doesn't really appeal to my playstyle but I definitely understand the cards power and if you prefer the playstyle of doomguard then by all means use it.
I just like Doomguard cuz it's better in the meta.
Why Brann?
thanks for asking I explained now.
Thanks for updating your thoughts on this deck, a lot of the cards you add make a ton of sense when you explain. What decks are you finding to be the most difficult against?
Dark Iron Dwarf can replace the Gormok, and for the Brann, maybe try Argent Squire.
thanks for asking I wrote an explanation now.
I want to add you!
