How do you draw cards without Northshire? You'll be top -decking by turn 7.
Really love your deck! Dragon Priest was my favourite archetype since TGT launch, so I was really happy for it to see competetive play again. I played it for two days and went from 20->16, then 16->18 and 18->15 (I don't record my games, but I believe it was about 40 games with like 70-75% win rate, as I got more than 100 gold just in 3-win prizes) with slightly changed decklist:
-Harrison Jones (I'm too poor :D),
-Dragonfire Potion (don't have second one :/),
-Azure Drake (I've cut one and didn't really see any difference, so i guess one is sufficient :D),
+Kabal Chemist (often gives me board clear, other potions are sometimes usefull as well),
+Book Wyrm (usefull for Mid-range Shaman matchup, not lost to it yet),
+Alexstrasza (I've been running Sylvanas Windrunner for a while, but Reno decks were sometimes hard to beat, and Alex proved to have more impact while also being another dragon activator, dropping their health right after reno or healing me up in need)
Deck works really well, but I always struggle against Face Warrior. In fact, I've lost every single match against them. I even wanted to tech in Acidic Swamp Ooze, but after doing it was just a dead card in next few games. Any tips for this matchup?
On the other hand, I haven't lost to any Mid-range Shaman yet, even to those with godlike starting hands. Discovering Lightning Storm, Feral Spirit or Flamewreathed Faceless is just devastating :D
Control Warriors don't seem to be popular right now, One I played against got crushed in turn 10, the other surrendered on turn 4 (although i must admit I curved out nicely there).
Against jade druids my winrate would is about 50% (roughly), I usually lose only if I draw my first dragon on turn 6-7, but that's usually loss in other matchups as well. I haven't met other Jade decks yet.
My Reno matchups were tricky. I mostly encountered Renolocks and while version with Lord Jaraxxus destroyed me, I've beaten those who didn't play/run it. Reno Priest matchup I had was quite tricky; I've beaten him with Alex face -> board attacking. Reno Mage died to his own Archmage Antonidas after I destroyed his Ice Block with his own Eater of Secrets - Drakonid Operative is just awesome!
With Goons deck: I've met only two (or three), one being Buff/Tempo Warrior and the second being Buff (Mid-range?) Paladin. I've lost every match even when I had good hand and played on curve. I don't think those matchups are very favourable for us...
TL;DR: Great deck, I've had a blast playing it, but I think it might not be the best choice for ladder if Goon decks are to dominate the meta (or maybe it's just my, uncompleted version :P). Keep up the good work! (and please, give some advice, Face Warrior hurts a lot ;_;)
I have played 32 matches with this deck today, 21-11 (the 2nd version with Wrathion etc.). I played mostly in the 15-20 ranks I due to reset.
A few observations. Deck deck is vulnerable in the beginning of the match. Most of my losses came from being over powered on turn 3-5, this often coincides with lack of dragons in the opening hand and relatively few early drops. One card I think I'll cut is Harrison Jones just too few weapons to justify him.
Favourable:
Jade Druid, play aggressive. The long game is not in your favour, if they can get 8/8 jades going then you are doomed.
Aggro warrior, I stopped them cold 1-2 turns before they had the kill play for board control and pick taunts with [card]Netherspite Historian [/card]
Unfavourable:
Murloc paladin. It just overwhelms me
Even:
Midrange Shaman - If they get the board early they can snowball it into a win. If Priest get's the board then priest wins.
Edit: The Mirror match is just silly due to Drakonid Operative
I haven't seen enough Grimy Goons deck to have a good idea about it, but I think it's a favourable matchup as well.
Really i cant believe somebody is streaming my deck :D please give me a video to see :)
Too slow.
Beating Pirate Warrior and Jade Druid consistently. Haven't met a single hunter in 15 games though oO
Zoo is another easy matchup.
+1 for this!
edit: changed Wrathion for Chillmaw. This list doesn't seem to lack carddraw due to Drakonid Operative, Azure Drake and Power Word: Shield. Also swapped Blackwing Technician with Kabal Talonpriest for a more sticky opening.
Thanks mate :)
I have made the same change and now it works like charm :D
Nice :)
How do you do against murloc paladin? it seems like the only deck that consistently beats me.
Yeah, that matchup isn't that great...
Try to remove early doomsayers and push damage right away. It's all about speed. They can't clear the board, draw their combo and heal big time all at once :P (unless you are allready at late game stages)
But I haven't met too many murloc paladins yet myself so I can't really say what the games feel like.
What about mass dispell for buffed minions for paladin, hunter or warrior?
In this type of deck mass dispell is not an option. Maybe you can use the new 5 drop if you are facing a lot of warriors.
Relying on dragon potion as AOE is a bit risky I think.
In fact the biggest problem for me is the new pirate warrior.
Pirate Warrior did not seem too hard for me, considering you got a decent opening. Early taunts reck them pretty hard. Maybe add a Wyrmrest Agent for the 2nd Shadow Word: Pain.
Good i was able to climb the old metha with pretty much the same archetype to ranked 2.
Dude there is no METHA right now and its not gonna be the next 2 months :)
dont you think that Chillmaw will be a good addition since we have heavy hp minions?
