Update: Some have suggested swapping in another Explosive Trap for the Freezing Trap. Past rank 5 I have some success by doing so, but Freezing Trap can be a game saver against control matchups. Some have also swapped 2x Huge Toad for 2x King's Elekk. I made the change, but I ultimately ended up switching back to Elekk because I prefer the potential card draw and deck information it provides. 1x Deadly Shot or 1x Eaglehorn Bow seem to be they best cards to substitute if you're looking to put in another card like Unleash the Hounds or something else to combat the current meta.
I also just want to say thank you for checking out my deck. This is the first one I have posted, and I am thrilled that the HearthPwn community has been interested enough to comment and share their own iterations. I regularly check this site for deck building ideas and wanted to finally contribute one of my own. Good luck out there.
The goal of this deck is to put early pressure on the opponent with sticky deathrattle minions while using traps/weapons/removal to gain a tempo advantage until you draw into Call of the Wild to finish.
I had Kindly Grandmother replace 2x Huge Toad instead of King's Elekk. I prefer the potential card draw and deck information provided from Elekk's joust.
Barnes was swapped for Stranglethorn Tiger. He consistently pulls good deathrattle minions (Infested Wolf, Savannah Highmane, Kindly Grandmother) or a 1/1 Argent Horserider. Worst case scenario is a 1/1 Elek or Houndmaster.
Kindly Grandmother is a great addition and along with Infested Wolf they allow Houndmaster to have reliable battlecry targets. Also greater likelihood that the sticky minions will be around for Call of the Wild/Animal Companion buff from Leokk.
Why 2x argent horserider? I can't see the point of this...
I find it helpful versus Shammy and Warlock or just some extra burst damage that is hard to deal with. If you are ahead and going face the opponent has to send two minions to deal with it.
Got first time legend with this deck! Don't know how to add picture in the comment to proof it but who cares
learn how to do it, then i'll believe you and this bs comment thread. There's no proof from anyone including the person who posted this deck. Don't you guys think this might just be one person with multiple accounts?
Thanks for checking out the deck. I haven't hit legend this month, but this deck gave me an easy and rapid climb to rank 5 and I wanted to share it. Hoping I'll have the time to make the push.
I wish I had as much luck as other people playing this deck, but I lost far more games than I won. Usually, I'd get overwhelmed quickly because they had board control and my mulligans would be later game minions. By turn 4 or 5, I was all ready to half-health and struggling to keep a minion on my side of the board. Thanks for sharing and offering feedback. Good luck this season.
I'm personally stuck at 5. I was half-way to 4, but there's no way I'm going higher. It's like everything at 5 is this deck, or something somehow more aggressive like the secret variant. Playing against 75% legends is also pretty rough. Too frustrating to continue for now.
cough cough priest
What are you talking about? Purify is OP :^)
Any feedback for the C'thun Warrior Matchup?
Passing by just to thank you. I went from rank 14 to 5 really quick, with an winrate of about a whooping 80%. Deck performs really well. Only change I made was to cut one freeze trap for another explosive since it feels much for adequate for the meta, and it has won me many many games by itself.
I can say that Barnes is not completely necessary on the deck. It's not that impactful as it may seem, at least on the games I played.
Thanks for stopping by! I also experienced a rapid climb to rank 5 with this deck and wanted to share it.
I made the change you suggested by swapping an explosive trap for the freezing trap and I've seen a slight increase in win percentage past rank 5.
I'm curious who you swapped Barnes out for--please do share.
Do you have a wild version of this deck?
I don't, sorry. Currently trying Purify Priest over there though.
Appreciate the kind words. I had an easy climb to rank 5 as well and wanted to share the deck. Glad you checked it out.
I'm currently making the push to Legend. I will try your suggestion of swapping in N'Zoth and see how it goes. I agree the Eaglehorn bow is probably the most replaceable card in the deck.
Went from rank 13 to 9 on a clean streak. Swapped 2 King's elek for 2 toads. It's all about tempo, don't be afraid to play off curve around 3-5 mana when necessary
Went from 16 to 9 in a few hours on an insane win streak. Hard mulligan for freezing trap against ressurect priest. Knocking back the blade master to the hand is usually auto win from then on.
What's really the reason for 2 Argent Horseriders? It doesn't make sense for a deck that is not that aggresive, and if it is there just for Barnes I think that a 1/1 charger is really poor for this card. Put there some value cards like Sylvanas Windrunner to take advantage of the deck. Or even better, a Stranglethorn Tiger for turn 5 and guaranteed 5 damage (not missing a turn is extremely important for Hunter)
Good against aggro and can be awkward to deal with for some control matchups.
RIP KINDLY GRANDMOTHER IS WHAT TJ SANDERS SAYS dogdogThump !!!
