Update: Some have suggested swapping in another Explosive Trap for the Freezing Trap. Past rank 5 I have some success by doing so, but Freezing Trap can be a game saver against control matchups. Some have also swapped 2x Huge Toad for 2x King's Elekk. I made the change, but I ultimately ended up switching back to Elekk because I prefer the potential card draw and deck information it provides. 1x Deadly Shot or 1x Eaglehorn Bow seem to be they best cards to substitute if you're looking to put in another card like Unleash the Hounds or something else to combat the current meta.
I also just want to say thank you for checking out my deck. This is the first one I have posted, and I am thrilled that the HearthPwn community has been interested enough to comment and share their own iterations. I regularly check this site for deck building ideas and wanted to finally contribute one of my own. Good luck out there.
The goal of this deck is to put early pressure on the opponent with sticky deathrattle minions while using traps/weapons/removal to gain a tempo advantage until you draw into Call of the Wild to finish.
I had Kindly Grandmother replace 2x Huge Toad instead of King's Elekk. I prefer the potential card draw and deck information provided from Elekk's joust.
Barnes was swapped for Stranglethorn Tiger. He consistently pulls good deathrattle minions (Infested Wolf, Savannah Highmane, Kindly Grandmother) or a 1/1 Argent Horserider. Worst case scenario is a 1/1 Elek or Houndmaster.
Kindly Grandmother is a great addition and along with Infested Wolf they allow Houndmaster to have reliable battlecry targets. Also greater likelihood that the sticky minions will be around for Call of the Wild/Animal Companion buff from Leokk.
I had a quick climb to rank 5 as well. With only x2 one drops and x4 two drops you have to mulligan hard for them. You might try subbing another 1 or 2 drop for Eaglehorn Bow or Deadly Shot.
This deck is disgustingly OP. Well done on crafting it.
I am a Control player so the Midrange style is very new to me, but this deck pretty much pilots itself. It was getting late in the month so I decided to use this to quickly grind to rank 5. Went from 11 to 5 in about 2 hours. And that's even with my bad RNG of literally never getting a good target off of Barnes. Seriously, not even once, it was only Houndmasters and King's Elekks.
Good work on the deck. Blizzard really need to do some serious work to make Control as viable as this stuff. xD
I'm not a huge fan of the bats either but they can serve there purpose if it forces your opponent to burn a removal or use a hero power to clear it. Leaving the board open for a 2 (3 with coin) mana drop. Still, I would MUCH rather have a 1/3 class beast card. I'm honestly not sure what is taking Blizzard so long to do that.
u will rarely get a lot of value of Barnes
There are pros and cons to both sides. This deck uses him for straight up value. Malygos or Antonio would be using him to combo off cards.
he makes a 1/1....4 power and 5 toughness
You actually have a 73.33% chance of summoning something other than a Houndmaster or a King's Elekk. All the other minions are great if you summon them from Barnes
Guys, don't tell him. we need him to get easy legend ^^
Midrange Hunter decks work as long as you stay true to curve. This one is no different. Good job.
Mind telling me why choose argent horserider?
other than that very solid deck already win 3 times!
First of all thanks for checking out my deck.
Previously, instead of x2 Argent Horseriders, I had x1 Carrion Grub and x2 Unleash the Hounds. After 50+ games I found only x1 Unleash was necessary--we want to be more proactive than reactive with this deck--and Carrion Grub was only doing work when I had Houndmaster as a followup. I ultimately decided on x2 Argent Horserider because it has immediate impact and helps a ton against Zoolock and Aggro Shaman which this deck struggles with.
Thank for checking out the deck!
