Have won my last 15 games straight with this deck, will update as time goes on.
Play curve, and trade efficiently, and buff up C'Thun. Use C'Thun or Fireball to finish.
Arcane Blast can be replaced with Arcane Missiles
Twin Emperor Vek'lor can be replaced with Twilight Geomancer
Brann Bronzebeard(currently under consideration for replacement) can be replaced with Twilight Geomancer or Twilight Elder
x1 Polymorph is for the mass amount of C'Thun decks out their right now. Bait C'thun, then Polymorph it.
While most are having success some are having trouble so I am doing a little guide here.
Number 1 trade efficiently. Try your best to use a little cards as possible to trade with. Secondly, think ahead about what your going to finish with, espicially if you do not have C'thun in your hand. C'thun can easilly be one of the last 5 cards in your deck. If thats the case you might want to look at alternative routes to finishing someone. You can be agressive with this deck, in a matter of fact you should be aggressive. Just play board, clear minions, hit face when you can and make sure to be counting up your damage. If you have a fireball in hand and your opponent is already at half health think of a way to get them in fireball range. C'thun is there to give you the extra punch you may need with control and other midrange/tempo decks. Against aggro think more about making sure their board doesn't get out of control.
Maybe another reason why a few people are struggling is because the old tempo mage focused more on using spell synergy rather than minions to trade efficiently. Remeber spells are not your only way to gain tempo, use your minions to.
Follows these rules and you will have success like everyone else has with this deck.
Here are two videos of the deck in play, not by me, but other playerd who play this deck very well. Should be a nice for people who want to know more about playing the deck
Deck has been updated to reflect meta (4/30/16)
Cthun decks aren't the best place for yogg. And for a cthun deck, twin emperor is a must have just like dr.boom in wild.
I would say you would be better off playing a yogg deck rather than changing this one, and add a few good cthun minions(disciple, chosen) and cthun into it
beg your pardon sir, but yogg once Pyroblastthe oponent 2 times for me. yogg has helped me more than not throughout the matches so far
Well I'm not sure what servers people are playing on, NA here, but this deck has performed quite badly for me. I even tried it Casual mode and lost 3 in a row, 2 Shamans and 1 tempo Mage. I tried it out at rank 15 and just lost stars, made no progress.. Perhaps the meta has shifted since many of you tried it out or I've just gotten unlucky with opponents, I don't know. Shame really as I find it a really fun deck to play. I'll give it another shot in a day or so and see if it will perform better. Thanks for the list!
It's fun to play, but it's a flopper
Awesome deck man, and here are some hunters bowing before the might of C'Thun! The second game I played around the trap too much, but the results are what matters most tho!
sick deck bro
Dude, why wouldnt you run flamewakers? That is INSANE.
I thought the same but so far it seems it works well without them. Go figure.
The deck has 10 spells, 6 of them cost 3 or higher. Of cos you wouldnt want to run flamewakers
I took out 2 Beckoners, Brann, Twilight Summoner, and a Faceless, and put in Flamewakers, some cheap spells, and Antonidas. C'Thun isn't an OTK card. It doesn't pay to build him up unless the cards are already good otherwise.
This deck is way better than I expected before the set was released. You did a good job here, didn`t lose a single game when I tested it (sample is small with only four games, but still noteable).
I recorded two of the games, if you need some gameplay to decide if this deck works: Ranked Gameplay
Thank you for feature and footage glad you like it. Will be putting it on the thread
Useless deck. For ranks 15-20 maybe.
I used this deck for 2x mage quests in casual. Replaced Brann Bronzebeard with Twilight Geomancer, Twilight Elder with Arcane Explosion (although I didn't end up using it), and Arcane Blast with Arcane Missiles. Just as a heads up, still very new to mage let alone mage control.
1 loss to tempo druid (C'Thun)
1 win to rouge (non-C'Thun)
1 close win zoolock - darkshire + Forbidden Ritual almost did me in
1 win priest - went aggro, overextended a bit but he thought I was ready to play c’thun and it caught him off guard
1 win - non c’thun tempo mage
1 win - shaman (non-c’thun)
It's a great deck. Everyone I played was ready for a standard C'Thun deck but this deck holds it's own without even playing it. Can't wait to try this in ranked.
Thank you, I went from 14 to 19 and this got me back up. Seriously thank you, this is a great deck
So I've got most of the cards needed for it but ran out of dust, so I replaced a few cards. This deck works great in the lower ranks, but I keep killing people without being able to use c'thun.
Hardest runs are against priests that continually buff and heal, but that really depends on what cards are first drawn.
DUDE!!!! I was in a groove for aboput a week and started a BAD RUN!!! I googled "Awesome Win Mage Deck" found you and....... WON 5 STRAIGHT!
YEEEEEE HAW!
Right on man, good work, thanks. I may be new but I ain't no fool! Seek help when you need it ;)
Thanks again
I've had a few games that didn't go over well, but this deck is really fun. Had a good streak going.
Mulligan guide?
Mana Wyrm? More? Keep C'Thun?
Anyone seen a game guide that can be applied to this deck?
