Have won my last 15 games straight with this deck, will update as time goes on.
Play curve, and trade efficiently, and buff up C'Thun. Use C'Thun or Fireball to finish.
Arcane Blast can be replaced with Arcane Missiles
Twin Emperor Vek'lor can be replaced with Twilight Geomancer
Brann Bronzebeard(currently under consideration for replacement) can be replaced with Twilight Geomancer or Twilight Elder
x1 Polymorph is for the mass amount of C'Thun decks out their right now. Bait C'thun, then Polymorph it.
While most are having success some are having trouble so I am doing a little guide here.
Number 1 trade efficiently. Try your best to use a little cards as possible to trade with. Secondly, think ahead about what your going to finish with, espicially if you do not have C'thun in your hand. C'thun can easilly be one of the last 5 cards in your deck. If thats the case you might want to look at alternative routes to finishing someone. You can be agressive with this deck, in a matter of fact you should be aggressive. Just play board, clear minions, hit face when you can and make sure to be counting up your damage. If you have a fireball in hand and your opponent is already at half health think of a way to get them in fireball range. C'thun is there to give you the extra punch you may need with control and other midrange/tempo decks. Against aggro think more about making sure their board doesn't get out of control.
Maybe another reason why a few people are struggling is because the old tempo mage focused more on using spell synergy rather than minions to trade efficiently. Remeber spells are not your only way to gain tempo, use your minions to.
Follows these rules and you will have success like everyone else has with this deck.
Here are two videos of the deck in play, not by me, but other playerd who play this deck very well. Should be a nice for people who want to know more about playing the deck
Deck has been updated to reflect meta (4/30/16)
I'd definitely say do not keep C'Thun mainly because this deck is made so that you don't have to rely on him to win. Mana Wyrm, Beckoner, and frostbolt or arcane missiles are what I've been holding onto and it works well for me. Really anything to hold off an aggro deck until you can get the tempo going.
Maybe even Twilight Flamecaller instead of Twilight Elder if you're having this problem
I recommend an Arcane Explosion instead of Twilight Elder.
Trying out this deck.. but very surprised to see a tempo deck without Flamewaker!
Yeah I'm beginning to notice that.. although still, Flamewaker is so goddamn powerful. I wonder if it can fit in this deck somehow.
Well, I was skeptical at first but it seems this this deck, as it is here in the website, is the best one so far.
5-0 pretty effortlessly... Great job OP!
Nice deck didn't have Twin Emperor Vek'lor so I subbed in Archmage Antonidas in a few games and Emperor Thaurissan in a few and they both played well, but i recommend Emperor Thaurissan.
This deck seems to always be playing from behind.
Deck does not really seem to be working for me.
Don't have arcane blast, and while I can see how that would have good synergy in this deck with all the spellpower minions, but with the replacement Arcane Missiles I keep on losing with this deck. Arcane missiles seem to random and do not have the added backup finishing power from Flamewakers to really hurt.
So as someone else mentioned.... it seems to slow to beat out aggro and too fast to go toe to toe with control.
Very nice deck
Added Arcane Explosion instead of Twilight Elder which i think is the weakest cultist. With so many zoolocks around and so much spell dmg in the deck, it worked wonders for me.
Why not Twilight Flamecaller instead of Arcane Explosion?
Arcane Explosion is faster and benefits nicely from spell dmg, often dealing 2 while 3 isnt that rare for 2 mana. The only real sinergy with Twilight Flamecaller is Brann Bronzebeard, but its a 6 mana combo which i find too slow against zoo. It gives a 2/2 body though, not sure its relevant.
I am not seeing positive gains with this deck. I'll admit I'm not great with "tempo" decks, but I shouldn't be going backwards.
For me, the deck is too slow to run with aggro but too fast to stand with control.
(For what it's worth, I've seen more wins and had more fun in general with Evolve Shaman, C'Thun Priest, Yogg-sino/Aggro Mage.)
Really? I'm 4/5 wins against aggro Hunters. I find it actually easy with the tempo mage to win against aggro.
I was thinking the same thing. Too bad I don't have Cabalist's Tome so I can test it out.
What could be a good replacement for Brann Barbabronce?
You do realize most of C'thun's damage is a battlecry right? So if you have C'thun in hand, clear board and play Brann on turn 9 for some real fun.
Beside lacking arcane blast, i also lacked one cult sorcerer. Replaced with a water elemental. May be testing out. Consider switchin out for either conjurer or polymorph. Won a game against a c'thun priest despite him brann + darkmender healing. Good deck.
