Have won my last 15 games straight with this deck, will update as time goes on.
Play curve, and trade efficiently, and buff up C'Thun. Use C'Thun or Fireball to finish.
Arcane Blast can be replaced with Arcane Missiles
Twin Emperor Vek'lor can be replaced with Twilight Geomancer
Brann Bronzebeard(currently under consideration for replacement) can be replaced with Twilight Geomancer or Twilight Elder
x1 Polymorph is for the mass amount of C'Thun decks out their right now. Bait C'thun, then Polymorph it.
While most are having success some are having trouble so I am doing a little guide here.
Number 1 trade efficiently. Try your best to use a little cards as possible to trade with. Secondly, think ahead about what your going to finish with, espicially if you do not have C'thun in your hand. C'thun can easilly be one of the last 5 cards in your deck. If thats the case you might want to look at alternative routes to finishing someone. You can be agressive with this deck, in a matter of fact you should be aggressive. Just play board, clear minions, hit face when you can and make sure to be counting up your damage. If you have a fireball in hand and your opponent is already at half health think of a way to get them in fireball range. C'thun is there to give you the extra punch you may need with control and other midrange/tempo decks. Against aggro think more about making sure their board doesn't get out of control.
Maybe another reason why a few people are struggling is because the old tempo mage focused more on using spell synergy rather than minions to trade efficiently. Remeber spells are not your only way to gain tempo, use your minions to.
Follows these rules and you will have success like everyone else has with this deck.
Here are two videos of the deck in play, not by me, but other playerd who play this deck very well. Should be a nice for people who want to know more about playing the deck
Deck has been updated to reflect meta (4/30/16)
Registered just to note how much fail I'm experiencing with this deck... Dropped 4 rank pretty much straight away.
Sad I converted cards into dust for this deck. Next time I'll do a little more research.
Here are my 19th to 15th results
Pretty good if you play cards right...
Bloodmage+Arcane missiiles+Ragnaros mandatory.
Deck is great, got me from rank 20 to 15, and I'm a new player. Probably I could go even higher.
As for te card choice - ever thought of substituting Bran for Sylvanas? I don't actually have Bran, but I'm using Sylvanas as a counter for C'Thun/Ragnaros/Deathwing etc. and she seems to do the job nicely.
Two questions - is there room in this deck for Forbidden Flame, and if so, which cards to substitute? I've got both Forbidden Flame and Arcane Blast and it's difficult to choose. Second question - Flamewaker. I'm seeing quite a lot of them online and they kinda rek stuff.
I hit legend with a similar deck. Ragnaros is essential imo.
What did you replace with Ragnaros?
This deck is really good in late game, but that's it. I get destroyed by more aggro decks even if I have a strong first hand. Maybe some early game taunt like Twilight Geomancer?
Not really - I've realised that spamming spells and hard trading is sometimes enough. I used to lose while keeping dmg spells for later and, sometimes it's better to lose a 6 dmg fireball on a 3 health minion in order to survive. But generally hard aggro decksare problematic for late game decks. Maybe get Arcane Missiles, or something like that?
i am brand new to c'thun decks, 7-2 and very close loses.... i am enjoying this deck. is there any room for a ragnaros in this deck and if so what should i replace?
Had the opposite experience. Maybe you played it poorly?
I think it's incredibly easy to craft 5 common cards.
I want to thank you for posting this deck. It does good up until about rank 13-14. However, it kind of craps out after that. I substituted in another flamestrike and a blizzard and pushed it to rank 12, but I'm having a miserable time getting past that. I think that maybe rank 11 is as high as someone my skill level, at least, can go with this deck. It kind of requires you to make no mistakes at that point. Even one bad ping can cost you the game, and a lot of times there's just nothing you could have done. I got pretty far with this deck but I think I'm going to have to trade up to get past rank 10.
P.S.- I think if I got a Twin Emperor Vek'lor I could push it to rank 10 because I've noticed this deck really lacks board presence. Almost nothing besides C'thun is super threatening in this meta, but I'm not sure if spending all that dust is worth it.
I can't seem to break out of the 14-15 range, and I was hoping this deck could do it for me. I don't have Arcane Blast but I replaced it with one Forbidden Flame and one Arcane Missiles. My wins and losses went like so: LWLLWWLWWWL (6/11 wins) So a little better than 50% win rate.
I don't know if that's good or not. It doesn't feel too amazing, but it's pretty fun to play.
looks a lot like the deck Reynad played some days ago.
guys...this deck is very powerfull i think. I am 28-13 (68%) now at rank 8 from rank 16. I really dont know what will happen in higher ranks.
the point is to decide which cards you must hold and go mulligan for which cards. it depends on your opponent class.
this deck is very weak against aggro shaman.
If by high win rate you mean like 10-20% than yes
I did not have Arcane Blast and replaced with 1x Forbidden Flame + 1x Cabalist's Tome and i have 18-3 now
I understand adding Forbidden Flame, but at 5 mana Cabalist's Tome seems counter to what a Tempo mage is about. According to theory, anyhow. It doesn't put anything on board and doesn't clear anything and you risk losing tempo playing it. Arcane Intellect is a similar card but at 3 mana it is cheap enough to combo with mana worm.
But then again, you are winning with it so I guess I'm in no position to argue :D
Also, Tempo mage is undergoing radical changes now a days. I mean, who needed to run polymorph or flamestrike in tempo back in the day? So I guess Tome isn't that big a deal now that I think about it, heh.
mmmm....I think you are right....I can see that you are right in rank 8 where I sticked
I will replace Cabalist's Tome with Arcane Missiles or maybe Forgotten Torch
p.s the only reason of this change for me is the lack of DUST for crafting Arcane Blast
Gets wrecked by zoo, which should be everywhere by the time you read this....
